In Episode 12 of The Deconstruction Room, we unpack a word many of us heard constantly growing up in church: backsliding.

For some of us, backsliding meant missing church, questioning what we were taught, falling into “sin,” or simply not appearing as committed to God as we once did. It could feel like faith was something you were constantly at risk of losing—and if you weren't moving forward spiritually, you must be moving backward.

But what does it actually mean to backslide? And how much of what we called backsliding was really just being human?
