In this episode of the Department Chair Leadership Podcast, I sit down with a true icon of American sports, Sue Enquist.
With over 45 years of experience at UCLA as a student, coach, administrator, and professor, Sue is a 6-time Hall of Famer and an 11-time NCAA Softball Champion. Holding the NCAA career record for winning percentage, her legacy extends far beyond the diamond. Most recently, she served as a consultant for the USA Volleyball Women’s National Team, guiding them to their historic first-ever Gold Medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and a Silver Medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Beyond her legendary coaching career, Sue is a former professional surfer, a successful entrepreneur owning three companies, and a dedicated advocate serving on numerous non-profit boards.
Whether you are leading a department, a classroom, a school, a Fortune 500 Company, or an Olympic team, Sue’s blend of competitive fire and leadership wisdom offers a masterclass in building a culture of excellence.
