Hello its Sabri Skoda here, thank you for listening to another one of my episodes! If you're new welcome! If you are not, welcome back! You will hear a lot more of me from now on, thats every Tuesdays, to you.
Today we go into some of my personal struggles with mental health illness and eating disorders. From my upbringing & first memories of my childhood, to when my mental illnesses were more pronounced at the age of 12 years old, I started to act on those needs to do something about the way I felt. I walk you through the unhealthy ways I dealt with those issues, which I try to show my listeners, are the way NOT to handle them. If I had only known about therapy earlier on in my life, and had a family that understood and knew where it came from, I could have been saved a lot of struggles. In no circumstance, do I put the blame on my family, it is just that they did not know that mental health can affect someone, who seems to be happy. - But today we know that a lot of people with pain, cover it up with smiles and laughter, to disguise the way they feel, as a coping mechanism. This is not healthy because as we know, not facing your feelings and emotions head on, affects your mental welfare more and more negatively the longer you ignore it.
Today's episode does have the same usual trigger warnings: suicide, suicide ideations, eating disorders, human sex trafficking, domestic violence & abuse, and addiction.
Resources for help with any of the following topics we discuss, will be at the end of the show notes.
