On this episode of How + Y I had the opportunity to connect Mike Crabbe. Mike is a Resource Development Coordinator with United Way Oxford. While I think everyone knows and appreciates the job done by the United Way it was a great experience to dig deeper into just how many ways they positively affect our community.
Mike does a great job conveying many of the ins and outs of all that is the United Way including the steps they have taken to adjust to COVID-19 so that those that rely on their help can continue to get it. To be honest, this one was an eye opener for me. I wasn't aware just how much they did to help people here in our community. I am very thankful to everyone at the United Way and am glad to help spread the word about this great organization!

On this episode of how + Y I had a lot of fun chatting with the Chief Operating Office of Century 21 Heritage House Anthony Montenaro. Anthony began working with us at C21 about a year and a half ago and I think I speak for many of my coworkers when I say that it's been a pleasure getting to know him. Not only does he have it together on the business front but he's a great person that brings so much good energy to the office on a daily basis.
Among other topics we discuss how COVID-19 may affect the local market as well as the real estate industry as a whole. I think it's safe to say that many of the innovations created out of this pandemic are probably here to stay, and that's not a bad thing.
As we move to a point where COVID-19 no longer controls our lives it's my hope that we don't forget the lessons learned during it. The importance of adaptation and innovation in order to keep the wheels turning has been a massive contributor towards the upcoming resurrection of our local local economy.

On this episode of How + Y I had the opportunity to connect with Jamie Tieche. Jamie and I discuss many things, but most prominently we chat marketing and business. While not currently his full time occupation, Jamie has and still runs a marketing company where he works to help businesses grow.
Jamie and I talk marketing but we also had a very good discussion about innovating during the tough times that we’re currently going through. Sometimes we get trapped in the ‘business as usual’ mindset instead of looking towards new and improved ways to market and operate. COVID-19 has sped this process up for many and we don’t foresee these innovations leaving any time soon.
I found this chat to be extremely fun which is probably why it lasted so long. The time flew by to say the least. I think the reason I enjoy talking with Jamie so much is because he possesses so much knowledge about a subject matter that I am so interested in. I hope that you enjoy this chat as much as I did.

I was able to sit down and chat with Amanda Zylstra. She is the owner/manager of Gardenia Salon and Spa here in Woodstock, ON. We discuss their COVID-19 shutdown, how she came to own the Salon and why she got into the business all together.
It's awesome to hear how much Amanda cares about her business, customers and staff.

I got to have a chat with Ryan Smith, the co-owner and manager of the Power Garage here in Woodstock. I think it was a great chat as we discussed the not so easy early days at the shop, their recent move and how they are handling COVID-19. I’ve known Ryan for years and it was great to get to catch up with him to chat about his business.
Also, where were you when Boston came back to beat Toronto in game 7 in 2013?

On this episode of the Daily Take, I chat about a couple of things that I consider to be important when preparing your home for sale.
These items are not meant to be stand alone items but rather, things that I have seen neglected by people that have done some good work in getting their homes ready for the market. I see them as being rather inexpensive in comparison to their overall impact.
The video of this take is available on my Youtube channel as well.
Thanks for listening.
On this episode of the Daily Take, I discuss some of the reasons for and against waiting until spring to sell your home. In this discussion there are certainly reasons for both as I believe you will find in my take.
On a whole, I would say that the most important thing to note is that it is market and property dependant. I don't believe waiting until spring is always best and I also don't think it's the best strategy for all properties to be listing in the winter.
I hope that this information helps you or someone you know.
If you have a question that you would like my take on, please send it in. I'd be glad to put out my opinion.
