As a mother of prodigals, you discover some boundaries have to be set for your own survival...sometimes emotional, and sometimes physical survival. Those of us who've lived a few decades know that at some point, you just have to say, "Enough is enough!" We reach an age and believe that there is only so much more pain and suffering, or disrespect, we can take. Today, Lisa discusses the tough choice of setting boundaries in her home that prevent some of the people she loves the most from coming around. Is it right? Is it wrong? Should she be more accepting? What Would Jesus Do? And are we sure that's what He would do?
Can we be certain that the boundaries we have set were done so for the right reasons?

Join Lisa as she tells the story of a lovely woman unwilling to leave her painful past behind her. The decision to hang onto and carry around our guilt and shame stops us dead in our tracks. It's like wondering why we can't "take off" in our faith while tethered to the "old man." There is no growing up! There is no moving ahead! There is no being "all that we can be!" as long as we insist on constantly taking a dead dog for a walk.

The Christian Drama Queen is just like everyone else—completely human. When someone in my "fam" is injured, humiliated, endangered, or just mistreated in some way by a server, doctor, plumber or bank teller, the Mama Bear in me has trouble keeping her opinion to herself. But having a meltdown in a small town is professional and ministerial suicide. How do you recover from making a *beep* of yourself in public? Three simple steps in this episode and in 40+ years of working in public, they've never failed me. Listen, share, rate and review.
Reminder: Reclaiming Freedom Through Forgiveness course starts in July. For more information on dealing with the bondage of bitterness, email [email protected].

In this episode, Lisa recalls the many times she sat quietly in despair during church while the women around her announced God had chosen them to conceive. She felt as if the entire congregation was controlled by one massive neck, as it seemed every eye in the place had turned toward her. What were they expecting? How did people think she'd react? Could she share her pain at a time of great celebration? How do we deal with the heartbreak that comes from realizing we will never have the life we were so certain we wanted? And why does God allow such heartbreak?
For information of these and other Drama Queen subjects, don't forget to visit her website listed in the show's description. And share this with the heartbroken women you know.
Launching in July: Lisa guides her listeners down the path to freedom through forgiving our abusers. Ask her for details.

The hardest part of abuse (at least in my case) was the bitterness that came after the abuse ended. I was not only angry and hated my abuser, but I was none too happy with my Lord and Savior. I mean...why did He allow it to happen? Where was He? If He loved me, how could He not protect me from my abuser?
In this podcast I explore the hard questions and the truths we think we want to know. But may not?? This podcast comes right out of my face to fact workshops showing women how to find forgiveness for others, and peace for themselves.

Most of us don't even know what the word means. Can you recall a time when you definitely did not feel cherished? If you aren't sure what that means, and don't feel like you deserve to be cherished, then this episode is for you.
In this episode, the host takes an excerpt from her Bible Study, DISCARDED, and recalls a time in her life when she knows she should have felt cherished, but was distracted by a counterfeit love and went on for years feeling as if there was nothing within her to be cherish-able. But what does our Heavenly Father say about being "most valuable," or cherished.

Getting real today! I recently committed to (and was subsequently released from) a project I was just certain the Lord wanted me to be a part of. Was it His calling or my own pride pushing into the busyness of another "save the world" project? Find out how to find out if you're diving into projects for all the wrong reasons and hear how this Discarded Daughter got it into her head that working for love was the only way to keep it...from her spouse, her kids, her friends. She just never wanted to say, "No." Sound familiar?

Welcome to Diary of a Discarded Daughter, a Christian podcast about healing from childhood trauma, abandonment, abuse, rejection, and discovering who God really is in the middle of…
Hosted by Lisa Schafer, founder of Christian Drama Queen Solutions, this podcast follows her forty-year journey through childhood sexual abuse, abandonment, betrayal, and the painful questions that often follow deep emotional wounds.
But this isn't simply a story about surviving trauma. It's the story of a forty-year battle to understand God.
After being abandoned and abused as a child, Lisa spent decades wrestling with questions many Christians quietly carry:
Where was God when I was being hurt?
Why didn't He stop it?
If God loves me, why did He allow it?
How can I trust a Heavenly Father when the people who were supposed to protect me failed me?
The wounds of her childhood shaped not only how she viewed herself, but how she viewed God. Pain, bitterness, fear, and unanswered questions distorted her understanding of His love, His character, and His purpose for her life.
Through years of searching, studying Scripture, wrestling with hard truths, and experiencing the healing power of Jesus Christ, Lisa discovered that God had never abandoned her. Instead, He was patiently renewing her mind, healing her heart, and teaching her to see both herself and Him through the truth of His Word rather than the lens of her trauma.
Each week, Lisa shares personal stories, biblical insights, practical encouragement, and lessons learned along the way as she helps listeners navigate their own healing journeys.
Topics include:
With raw honesty, heartfelt conversations, biblical wisdom, and occasional humor at her own expense, Lisa creates a space where women can stop pretending, start healing, and get honest about the wounds they've carried for far too long.
Whether you're struggling with trauma, wrestling with unanswered questions, battling bitterness, or searching for God's purpose in your pain, this podcast offers hope that healing is possible.
Not because the past changes. But because God changes us.
Grab your Bible, bring your questions, and join Lisa each week as she shares how God transforms discarded daughters into women who are healed, restored, and walking confidently in His purpose.
Because your wounds may explain your story—but they do not define it.
God gets the final word.
