The Dirty Kitchen

🚨🚨🚨 If you listen to anything this weekend, make sure it’s this 🚨🚨🚨 Have you taken the time to audit your network lately? Maybe at work, you have a bulletproof team, a great set of coworkers and teammates people that push you to new heights Monday to Friday. But think about this... If you go out with your friend Friday and Saturday that talk you into clubbing, taking shots at the bar, smoking weed and spending your hard earned cash on a weekend hangover... You will NEVER be able to keep up with the individuals that have made a commitment to themselves and their craft to better their performance day in and day out. No matter if the day starts with Sat or Sun. If you read this message and ignore it, that is better for them because it’s one less person they have to compete with. Step up your game this weekend and spend time with people who will challenge you emotionally, spiritually, intellectually. Go out and win the weekend!

Ed Mylett talks about the concept that Rich Men Play Golf... Digging deeper on this subject I think that you can apply this concept in a bigger picture to networking in general. If you are trying to grow your business, or achieve peak performance you need to go to places and events where you will meet winners and successful people in life.

The bar might be fun if you are looking to forget your failures on a Friday night, but it’s not the place to be if you are trying to improve your life and be more effective in achieving your desired.

Go where you can learn, grow and be fulfilled

Some people get caught focusing all of their attention on short term goals that only get you halfway to the finish line without considering the full process or the big picture.

You can have a great plan to climb to the top of the mountain, but do you have a plan to get back down?

Can you remember back to the first time you rode a bike? How scared you were to remove the training wheels? You probably had trouble at the beginning, but now even if you haven't rode in years, you could hop back on and pedal away.

This philosophy can be applied in all aspects of life and the quote from Les Brown rings true... "You don't have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be great"

People are going to call you out and make sure you hear about your mistakes... Most people take this as criticism and either shut down, quit or get depressed. Flip the script and instead take it as feedback and learn from the criticism, use it as fuel to improve and get better for the next time around.

Think about this old but true cliche... "You only have one chance to make a good first impression."

It is a crucial skill to always bring your best self to every situation and interaction with others. This may sound difficult, but it could be as simple as having a solid morning routine that gets your mindset calmed and your attitude primed for communication.

Figure out how to do this, and you will have a lifelong skill!

Marcus jumps into a great quote today from Sir Richard Branson - "Your life is your story, don't be afraid to make edits."

If you have had some tough situations in your life, or things you are stuck in that you need to change... The best time to start was 20 years ago, the second best time to start is today. Make your story one you would want to read!

Steve Jobs tells a great story of an Apple employee he came across when he returned to the company in 1997 - With the companies fall from grace and being 90 days away from bankruptcy. He talked with an employee that he considered a superstar and asked him, what are you still doing here? The employee replied, "I believe in 6 colors"

Check out today's episode as Taylor Abbott digs into the importance of belief in what you do and how to leverage that to your success.
