April 4, 1991, after a BBQ at Angela Hammond's mom's house, she stopped at a payphone located in downtown Clinton, Missiouri to call her fiancé, Rob Shafer. While on the phone with him, she started getting creeped out by a guy in a green truck that was acting a little weird. She described the truck and the guy to Rob, and it wasn't long after that Rob heard Angela scream. He raced to her location, passed the green truck on the way, and turned around and gave chase until his car broke down.
