Skye Lynn Budnick has been missing since April 2008 after she traveled to Japan without informing her family. She was last seen on April 7, 2008 at an inn in Hokkaido, Japan, where she had told staff she planned to visit Sapporo. Skye had long been interested in Japanese culture and had studied the language for three years, though her fluency was limited. Her family reported her missing on April 4 after discovering that she had booked a one-way flight to Japan. Skye, who had been struggling with depression, did not take any luggage except for her computer, which remains missing. An unsent email resembling a possible suicide note was found in her account. Despite her family’s efforts to find her, Skye has not been seen or heard from since April 7, and her whereabouts remain unknown. If anyone has information, they are encouraged to contact the US Consulate in Sapporo, Japan.
