Make your dining reservations online starting Oct 3rd

Beginning October 3, you can make dining reservations online. This new service will make it easier to book a meal at restaurants in Disneyland and Disney California Adventure parks, at the Downtown Disney District and at the hotels of the Disneyland Resort.

With the new online booking option, the [email protected] email reservation service will no longer be offered, but those wishing to make a reservation over the phone may still call 714-781-DINE.

A fee of $10 per person will be applied if a guest does not show to their reservation or if the reservation isn’t canceled the day before. Canceling your reservation will be easy with the new online service – simply log in to make cancellations right there.

Unleash the Villains, Disney’s Friday the 13th LTM happened this past friday.

And much like the 24 hour parties, this event was poorly planned for those who tried to get in. For those who did get in it was Hellish! According to reports, Disney has over one million passholders. They do this, on a nice warm friday night, with no blackout dates. What did they think only a few will show up? They ran out of the special food they advertised, they sold out on event shirts. They need to plan these things better!

Members Learn Details about Club 33’s Remodel - InsideTheMagic.net shares more details about the upcoming remodeling of the club. This week members have been given access to a preview center to learn about what will be changing.

GAC becomes DAS (Disabled Assistance System) Beginning Wed Oct 9th.

The Guest Assistance Card is being discontinued beginning Wed Oct 9th. People with disabilities will no longer to able to bypass people in lines. The new process will be as follows:

Guest with wheelchairs can wait in lines that can accommodate them. Like all rides in DCA. (I’m not clear how it works for non accessible rides.

Guests who are eligible for a DAS goes to City Hall and has their photo taken.

Once they have the Card guests will go to a Kiosk and get a time issued to them as to when they can ride the ride. Time will be based on the current wait time. Minus 10 or 15 minutes for travel time. So if a ride that is 90 minutes then their time stamp will be for 75 minutes after the stapm is issued.

Only the person who is photographed can be issued the timestamp. So they can’t transfer it.

Marvel’s First Character Meet and Greet is Coming to Disneyland - Disney Parks Blog announced this week that, In celebration of “Thor: The Dark World” coming to theaters November 8th, guests at Disneyland will be able to visit Asgard this fall and come face-to-face with the Mighty Avenger, Thor. Location and times will be announced at a later time.

Run Disney’s Disneyland Half Marathon happened this last Labor Day Weekend25,500 Runners showed up to participate from all over the country. Including my wife Laurie who ran both the 10k and the Half Marathon earning the Dumbo Double Dare Medal. I’ll have some pictures from some of the different spots along the course on the website. Including some cool pictures that feature backstage areas.

World of Color Gets a Winter Holiday Overlay - Imagineer Steven Davidson announced a few weeks ago that “Winter Dreams” will be coming to World of Color starting November 15th. It will be showcasing and presenting the newest Disney character, Olaf, from the upcoming new movie “Frozen” from Disney Animation premiering November 24th.

New Hidden Mickey Pins Arriving at Disneyland in Late July 2013 - These new pins follow the first part of the 2013 collection that was released in February. These new pins are distributed to cast members to use for trading with guests of all ages. Each pin measures approximately 1.25-inches and contain a small Mickey Mouse icon. This not-so-hidden icon is an easy way to identify Hidden Mickey pins on cast members lanyards.

The 2014 Tinker Bell Run Half Marathon Sells Out - Run Disney’s annual winter marathon event at Disneyland January 16th - 19th, 2014 had it’s registration opened this week. In less than 48 hours, the half marathon main event, was sold out. There are still openings available for the Tinker Bell 10K and Never Land Family Fun Run 5K events.

Saving Mr. Banks Trailer Released - The movie about Walt Disney obtaining the film rights to P.L. Travers book, Mary Poppins has released it’s first movie trailer this week. Tom Hanks as Walt Disney and Emma Thompson as Mrs. Travers tell the story of how Mary Poppins came to the big screen. The movie is set in the 60’s and the Walt Disney Studios and Disneyland are in the film.

D23 Expo - 2013 Disney Legends were announced this week. Each honoree receives a two-foot-tall bronze Disney Legends sculpture that signifies the imagination, creativity, and magic they have brought to the Company. Disney Legends Award recipients also participate in a handprint ceremony, and their bronzed prints will be displayed in the Disney Legends Plaza at the Company’s Burbank headquarters. The ceremony will be held at the D23 Expo 2013 at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, in the D23 Expo Arena at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Lone Ranger PremiereDisney Rolled out the red carpet at DCA for the premiere of The Lone Ranger starring Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp. Stars in attendance included William Fichtner, Johnny Knoxville, Dominic Monagham, Joey Lawrence, Verne Troyer, Orlando Jones, Andy Garcia, and many others including Lana Parrilla, Regena from Once Upon a Time. Of course there was Johnny Depp.

Work being done in the Disney Gallery on Main Street.

New work is underway in the Disney Gallery and Main Street Opera House lobby, with rumors that new gallery space will be added to the Main Street Opera House lobby. It’s unclear what exactly will happen, but rumors point toward moving some of the Disney Gallery exhibit space into the Opera House lobby to allow for expanded retail space inside the Gallery. In any case, a new show celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Enchanted Tiki Room is expected to open soon.

Tony Baxter Career Celebrated - Tony Baxter celebrated his retirement from Walt Disney Imagineering at Club 33 this week. Guests included retired founder and chief archivist Dave Smith, Richard Sherman, imagineers and friends.

Limited Time Magic - At the Disneyland Resort starting July 1st - 7th we’re saluting our nation’s birth in a big way with “Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky.” The Disneyland Resort fireworks spectacular will be held each night at 9:30 p.m. during Independence Week. Every evening, you can also wear a pair of illuminated Mouse Ears and “Glow with the Show” during performances of “Celebrate America!” at Disneyland and the patriotic pre-show to “World of Color” at Disney California Adventure.
