The Disney Culture Podcast

To all who come to this happy podcast welcome! This episode we cover the sunsetting of Disneyland APs. I've had one for over 20 years, but now we say goodbye and talk about what may be in the future for some kind of annual pass, but I still get my discount until the end of next month with no actual opening date in sight. Vaccines are available at Disneyland, well in the Toy Story parking lot anyway. While this is going on Avengers Campus is still set to open in 2021, I mean they still have another 11 months. We also talk the weirdness that is WandaVision. Come along for the ride as we discuss all this and more on the Disney Culture podcast. See ya real soon!

It’s a whole different type of Christmas this year. What changes are you making? What specials are you watching? We discuss some of the good, the bad and the ugly specials out there in streaming land.

Speaking of streaming, all Warner Bros. movies will be released streaming in 2020. Does this make you more likely to get another streaming service? What does it mean for the movie theater industry?

Did you watch “A Recipe for Seduction”? It’s the bad movie that you didn’t know you needed to see. Fans of movies that make fun of themselves are sure to enjoy it.

Disney Dropped a TON of news at their recent Investor's Day meeting. We discuss just a little bit of what is coming up. Whether it be Disney+, Hulu, Disney Animation, Pixar, Marvel or Star Wars, there is going to be something for everyone to enjoy.

We delve a bit deeper into the investor news on Star Wars. There is SO much going on, but how long should these stories last? A few seasons? A long haul? Obi Wan Kenobi will see the return of Hayden Christensen. What will this look like? Will Maul be involved? Will we see another confrontation between the two? Will it be the end of the season? We talk about how Ahsoka should be designed in the same way as Arrow with flashbacks filling in the story of her missing years.

The Mandalorian has wrapped up and we break down the final three episodes of the season. What did we think of the big reveal? Where is the series going? How do Cara Dune, Mayfeld, and others tie into upcoming series? We give our predictions and our best guesses.

Rest in Peace to Jeremy Bulloch, the original Boba Fett. Dan shares some stories about meeting him and getting his autograph.

In Wrestling News: Kenny Omega is the new AEW champion, but he’s working an angle as the collector of titles. This is leading to cross promotion work between AEW and Impact Wrestling. This is a super fun angle and we’re excited to see where this is going.

Dan reviewed the Vandals live stream of the Christmas Formal. Have you watched any high quality, paid live streams? What have been your experiences?

This month we spent so much time talking about the goodness that is the Mandalorian that we had to just make it its own episode. So we present a special bonus episode where we break down Season 2 so far. Lots of insight and references to other things in the Star Wars Universe, both canon and legends. Join us in a conversation about the smash hit Disney+ show The Mandalorian. We have spoken!

Happy 3rd Anniversary! We can’t believe it’s already been three years. Now that the election has come and gone, we ask about some of the absurd demands we want from our next president including burritos and X has had some big life changes we discuss and his connection to the recent space launch.

Charlie Brown is BACK on TV. Why did he leave in the first place? Wonder Woman 1984 is coming to HBO Max the same day as theaters, Chris Pratt joins the new Thor movie. Darkwing Duck may be coming back in a new series and Conan O’Brien is ending his series.

We’ve played a couple of Left Hand Black songs, if you haven’t had a chance to listen to this album, do yourself the favor. The Bouncing Souls just re-released a bunch of new material as Volume 2. This leads to a conversation about reimagined albums and what are some of the better ones.

The Star Wars Holiday Special was a nightmare, but the Lego Star Wars Holiday Special is NOT. There were some great references from all nine episodes in the Star Wars Saga and a cameo from Grogu himself. There were even some Easter Eggs from Galaxy’s Edge.

We give our thoughts and pay our respects as we hear the news about the passing of Dave Prowess, the body actor for Darth Vader at 85.

Dan visited Buena Vista Street now that it is reopened for shopping. He provides the details on how the operations and safety work on site.

Rick and Xavier celebrate the World Series win for the Dodgers. How important was this win for L.A? What impact and what fallout came from Justin Turner’s positive test for Covid-19? How is it affecting other sports, like the NFL? How can sports move on in the Covid Era? We give our opinions.

On this episode of Kayfabe Culture the guys discuss the AEW PPV Full Gear and all the highlights as well as some lowlights and Dan makes a shocking announcement regarding WWE.

To all who come to this happy podcast welcome! Welcome to the Disney Culture podcast, yet another podcast on the Extraordinary Culture Podcast Network. With a real love for Disney and especially Disneyland it wasn’t going to take long before we needed to have an extended conversation on what has been going on in the world of Disney. Do we drop news? No, this is more a discussion and reactions to the things that have come out of the Disney camp since the inevitable shutdown. From the California governor taking a strong stand to more layoffs and the opening of Buena Vista Street, to what the parks can pull off for Christmas since an opening isn't likely and we discuss a whole lot of things that Disney has done to keep the interest high and some money rolling in. Just for an added touch we add a review of Disney's neighbor Knott's Berry Farm and their Taste of Fall-O-ween and speculate on what we might see in the holiday version. Come along for the ride as we discuss all this and more on the Disney Culture podcast. See ya real soon!

It’s October and we are here to provide “The Vampire’s Point of View.” That includes some of our favorite Halloween shows and specials, plus mixed reactions for Adam Sandler’s latest, “Hubie Halloween.”

In entertainment news, we discuss Disney Pixar’s Soul coming to a Disney+ and wonder why there hasn’t been more hype. Disney is focusing on a stronger content model moving forward, and we wonder how that is going to affect all aspects of Disney releases.

What is in store for the Rock’s upcoming bio series? Also a Green Lantern series is coming to HBO Max, and yes, Kilowag is in it. We also give our opinions on streaming services in general.

Milo Aukerman from the Descendents has a new EP out where he plays his small uke. How is it? Mad Sin also just released a new album, Dan and Dan share their thoughts.

Indie Record Store staple, The Mad Platter has to shut its doors permanently. We share memories of its heydays.

It wouldn’t be an Extraordinary Culture Podcast without Star Wars news. We discuss the Mandalorian release schedule, the High Republic comics, the Obi Wan series and why Obi Wan warns Anakin about the high ground.

As L.A. area boys, we pay our respects to both the Dodgers and the Laker’s for their postseason accomplishments and to the Raiders for defeating reigning Super Bowl Champs.

Will AEW have its own version of the 4 Horsemen? Rick gives his input.

All this, plus some laughs, some beers and from “The Vampire’s Point of View.”

Music provided by Scotty Saint and the True Believers.
