     Today's episode follows a rockin' day at Heritage UMC as Lilly, Aubrey, and Gianna were the singers at the 9am service and crushed it.  Then, Gianna and Jason Langdon performed a great Popular/For Good/Defying Gravity mashup as the sermon bumper at both services so that following it would surely make Pastor Matt's sermon a total letdown.  Way to go, Gianna...

     Beyond that, Pastor Matt shares his political, spiritual, economic, psychological, and theological reflections on his trip to visit Heritage's sister church in Cuba, including the virtues of sharing, extreme hospitality, the value of addressing traumas, and the challenge in believing in both free will and demon posession.

     Finally, the host crew gives their reaction to the Doctionary.com word of the year, and the reaction is not positive.

     Today's episode was all about girl power, sans Troy and Chu.  (Between his wife, daughters, and even their girl dog; Pastor Matt's had nothing but girls in his life for the last 25 years, so it seemed pretty status quo for him.)  TBH, the power was abundant.  The gang of girls covered Pastor Matt's missteps--or maybe we should call them "long jogs"--in church this morning, as well as Gianna's alarm going off on her phone in her bag back by the tech booth while she was in the middle of a song on the platform.  The church got high marks for bringing down the house on  "When the Saints Go Marching In," which led to a discussion--and some performances--of songs that easily get stuck in your head.  Lastly, the results are in and the Final Four is set for the Top Dogs Bracketeering Challenge!

In this episode, the hosts recapped Aubrey's legendary introduction to the congregation at church this morning, compared our experiences swimming and baptizing in the Gulf of Mexico vs. the Gulf of America, had a good discussion of the role of forgiveness in achieving peace in the Middle East, weighed the unfortunate upcoming matchup in Bracketeering between the Golden Retriever and the Weiner Dog, got a pretty good audition from Lilly to sing the National Anthem at the next Super Bowl, decided on the DobERman and the Pomeranian as the official dog breed mix of the DeRP, and all agree that we like the sound of RED and not the sound of WHITE.

          This week on the DeRP, the hosts debate which is worse--Chihuahuas or paradigms, recap the results for round 1 of Bracketeering: Top Dogs, can't decide if Lilly is old enough to have ever had a phonebook, discuss the Beatitudes and how to construct a durable soul, design the best possible TV newscast lineup but still wouldn't watch it, learn that Gianna knows a whole lot about people being hospitalized, and learn that Troy's mom listens to the podcast, meaning a couple weeks ago we accidentally told her about his lower back DeRP tattoo.  Sorry Troy!

Today the crew is plagued by animal phobias, confuses Magellan and Marco Polo, suggests some possible fallback jobs for Pastor Matt if preaching doesn't work out, talks about who they voted for in 2nd grade, predicts the outcome on the latest season of "Bracketeering," (Top Dogs Edition!) and is reminded by Pastor Matt about what comes after "I don't know, I wasn't there."

This week Taylar joins the crew and talks gross nursing experiences, rock band life, and wedding food variety; Pastor Matt invites everybody to reflect on the difference between activity vs. identity when it comes to following Jesus; and it turns out there are a few Guinness World Records that are just asking to be set except for the fastest 100 meter barefoot run on Legos, which was set by a mom with plenty of accidental Lego stepping training who figured she might as well get credit for it.  Also, if you're an air traffic controller, please don't take a nap until our plane lands.

This week the host gang tackled both religion and politics in light of the tragic murder of Charlie Kirk, but also had fun like they always do being the best church ever, including some quick takes on the King of Swans and finding the point where shoes are just too uncomfortable regardless of how good they look.
