Last week, the Surgeon General of the United States, Dr. Vivek H. Murthy, published a public health declaration entitled, "Our Epidemic of Loneliness and Isolation." Read here. The guys take some time to discuss the topic of loneliness, the itch that the Gospel alone can scratch, and our role in combatting social isolation.

What does our nature tell us about community and loneliness? Has this issue come out of nowhere? Why do the replacements of deep connection we choose fail to meet our needs?

This week the guys reflect on a couple of ideas. Sit with us and think about the book of Romans, our collective outlook on life, and what it looks like to continually focus deeper attention on the things directly in front of us.

Are you more inclined to live a life filled with tasks, thoughts, and relationships that are a mild wide and an inch deep, or an inch deep and a mile wide? Are deep, open friendships a significant aspect of your life? Who are the people that encourage and push you deeper to Jesus?

Travis read a book! (Try not to read that as a sarcastic barb.) “Deep Work” by Cal Newport is the topic of discussion for the guys this week.

Do you spend much of your time chasing fires to put out and trying to multitask? How faithful are you to slow down and spend time focusing on the denser aspects of life and God?

This week the guys discuss the significance and centrality of humility in following Jesus. Andrew Murray's book (click here) has been a hugely important resource for both Travis and Matt. This time around they discuss what true humility looks like.

Is your life marked by humility? Are you guilty of living as a victim, in a negative version of pride? What does it mean to view others as more important than ourselves (see Phil. 2)?

Holy Week has come and gone. Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Easter have been celebrated and observed. This week the guys discuss Easter and why the Resurrection had to happen, and what the most common theories against the Resurrection are.

What does it mean if the Resurrection didn't happen? Does the flag of your faith fly on the reality of the empty tomb? Paul seemed to believe that the physical Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the hinge-point of Christianity. Do you?

Following the tragic school shooting in Nashville, the guys sit down to discuss some of the responses they have seen. How do we handle politics when the issue goes so much deeper? Is there a time and place for "thoughts and prayers," or do we hide behind the sentiment in order to make ourselves feel better for inaction?

The guys haven't gotten a chance to sit down and record something for a few weeks, so this time around they catch up and then focus on a topic that is close to our hearts: ministry as a team sport. We are not called to follow Jesus alone and we are unable to love and serve people without one another.
