On November 17, 1986 Japan Airlines flight 1628 took off on the Iceland to Alaska leg of its journey. The Boeing 747 – 200f cargo plane was travelling from Paris France to Narita airport near Tokyo. What was supposed to be a routine flight carrying a cargo of bottles of Beaujolais wine turned into a nightmare journey for the Captain and his crew. What actually happened to them that evening over the Alaskan skies has been hotly debated over the years.
