Dr. Hollen Meyer gives an inspirational word on 'going through the motions' in a short, devotional format with Bible-Based principles.
Have you ever caught yourself just going through the motions?
I remember a time when I was in business and I was simply going through the motions. I was lacking fulfillment in an area that I once had a burning passion and desire for.
So what does the Bible say about ‘going through the motions’ or some people might call it Burn-Out?
- Include God in your plans and in your relationships
Proverbs 3:6 – “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths.”
Who better to include in our planning that the One that created us: The Lord knows best and He will steer us in the right direction
Proverbs 16:9 “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”
- Give your plans to God
Philippians 4:6-7
When we give our lives, plans for our business, and our relationships to the Lord…we gain a peace that that surpasses all understanding. God doesn’t just want our lip-service…He wants our hearts and our minds to be involved in our relationship with Him.
Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
- Break out of the routine by asking God to reveal Himself daily.
When you talk to God daily, you begin to understand God’s will for your life and his role in your life. You also begin to understand yourself on a deeper level….and it’s very important to know your WHY.
- Be spontaneous
God desires for his people to learn to trust his presence.
Mark 13: 10-11
