ABOUT DR. ALEXANDRA ADLER

Dr. Alexandra Adler is a board-certified pain management specialist and anesthesiologist. She graduated from Yale University in 2007 Magna Cum Laude with distinction with Phi Beta Kappa honors. She was awarded a Gates Cambridge Fellowship and studied at the University of Cambridge from 2007-2008, graduating with a Master of Philosophy in Biological Sciences. She then returned to Yale School of Medicine to complete her medical degree. She did her residency training in anesthesiology at Massachusetts General Hospital and continued on at MGH for a fellowship in chronic pain that emphasized a multidisciplinary approach to pain. She joined the Pain Center team in 2020 and became a partner in 2023.

Dr. Adler splits her time between Lowell General Hospital and the Pain Center. Her goal is to provide exceptional, comprehensive care to a wide variety of patients experiencing both acute and chronic pain. She enjoys working in a community practice while maintaining an interest in research and patient education. Her particular interests include pelvic pain, peripheral nerve pain, chronic back pain and non-medication options for managing and treating pain. She recently contributed to a pelvic pain guide for patients.

Dr. Schafer's guest today is Danica Q. Pruett, MD, CMQ. She is a Board-certified anesthesiologist with ample experience in different kinds of practices. After her first decade in private practice, she decided to mix her adventurous personality with her love of meeting new people. Being a traveler physician suited her well. She has multiple state licenses and travels both in and out of her state of residence to work.  When not working at an academic center, she finds opportunities to meet medical students and residents at medical conventions, medical society events, and even on medical social media. 

Dr. Pruett must keep up with laws for healthcare in each state, credentialing policies for different hospitals and state medical boards, and the diverse technology used in each place, including AI/ML (Artificial intelligence machine learning). Dr. Pruett jumps at the opportunity to help the committee and/or research teams, even if her time in each job is limited. This immense exposure gives her the ability to start any new job easily and work expeditiously. It also has helped her coach many peers regarding the Locum Tenens physician’s (“traveler physician”) life.

Terms like 'System-Induced Exhaustion' more accurately describe the root of the issue, emphasizing the need for organizational change and support rather than placing the onus solely on the individual."

Dr. Mary Alice Mina is a Harvard-trained double-board certified dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon practicing at Baucom & Mina Derm Surgery, LLC in Atlanta, Georgia. She has been in clinical practice for over 10 years and finds being able to address her patient's complex procedural dermatology needs to be incredibly fulfilling and rewarding. Her dermatology practice is known for providing personalized care with exceptional surgical and cosmetic outcomes. 

Dr. Mina received her medical degree from Vanderbilt University where she graduated at the top of her class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She went on to train at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City for her internship followed by dermatology training at Harvard Medical School. During her last year she was selected as Chief Resident of the program. She went on to receive subspecialty training in Mohs micrographic surgery and procedural dermatology at Emory University. She now lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband of over 12 years and 2 children.
