Matt Rothschild joins Dom for both hours today. He starts off sharing his history with Wisconsin politics, starting with his time at The Progressive and The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign. Matt and Dom talk about how Wisconsin’s new legislative maps will help bring balance.

Matt and Dom review the lie popularized and spread that Haitian immigrants in Ohio are eating pets. Vance calls for the media to fact check the claims from Springfield, and then immediately rejects the fact-checking. Haitian Americans are speaking out about the effects of these lies on their community. Matt recommends us all check out books by Edwidge Danticat, a Haitian-American writer.

  • Sit down for this one: hateful rhetoric may cause harm!(Hour 2)

In the wake of an apparent second assassination plot against Donald Trump, everyone has an opinion about who and what is to blame. Vance and Trump blame the Democrats for “attacking Trump”… by, er, fact-checking him and pushing back against his authoritarian ideals. Let’s be very, very clear: political violence is unacceptable. It is not the answer to political difference. And physical violence often follows verbal violence and hate-filled calls to action.

James Kelly, northwest news bureau chief for Civic Media joins us at the bottom of the hour to brings an update from JD Vance’s rally. Towards the end of the appearance, Vance returned to his favorite lie of the moment on Springfield residents from Haiti eating pets.

  • ♫ Reeeaaaal men of geeeniuusss♫(Hour 2)

Today we salute YOU, Mr. Really Bad Debator! In case you missed it, last Tuesday the two major party presidential nominees for president met for the first time in order to debate the issues that matter to Americans. Every respectable poll of elected officials, journalists, and political junkies marks Kamala Harris the clear winner of the debate. The former president and current Republican nominee asserts that he won, due to his being a man of extraordinary genius. You can read the full transcript and watch the full exchange to judge for yourself.

In this hour, we also check in on the two major party vice presidential candidates. Tim Walz made a campaign stop in Wisconsin today, where he highlighted the necessity of Ukraine’s victory against Russian aggression. His opponent has had very different media appearances. JD Vance continues to double and triple-down on the lie of migrants harming pets. He refuses to drop the lie even as fellow Republicans call on him to do so as it places Ohioans in real danger.

  • Ballots not Bullets, Always. (Hour 1)

First off, let’s state the obvious. Political violence is never acceptable. Over the weekend, an attempted assassin waited at one of Trump’s Florida golf courses with a high-powered gun. Trump’s Secret Service detail shot at the man before he ever had Trump in his sights or took a shot and the alleged would-be assassin is now in custody. And, of course, Trump immediately took to social media to seek donations and blame his Democratic opponents for *checks notes* using extreme and hateful rhetoric that incites violence. Huh. That, that seems like projection.

Plus- breaking down the devastating, shocking, unmanly image of Tim Walz drinking a milkshake… with a STRAW *gasp*

  • On truth and accountability- a review of cases against DJT (Hour 2)

Jim Santelle stays on for a second hour for an early Law Review before his Saturday Amicus show. He and Dom check in on the current legal cases facing former POTUS Trump. In Georgie, Scott McAfee dropped two charges related to conspiracy and election interference against Trump. Jim breaks down why, and why it’s probably correct. Then they move on to discussing the ongoing turmoil the Haitian immigrant communities of Springfield, OH face. Trump and Vance continue to claim without any evidence whatsoever that immigrants are harming pets. It is not true. And these lies are dangerous. Finally, checking in on the documents case in Florida.

  • You gotta keep 'em separated (White House and DoJ edition) (Hour 1)

Former US Attorney and current Civic Media host of Amicus: A Law Review Jim Santelle joins us today to talk law. Jim and Dom spend some time checking in on Tuesday’s presidential debate- of course- before launching into a law review. Yesterday, Merrick Garland delivered an address to the workforce stating that the DoJ would remain independent from all political maneuvering. We all suffer when justice becomes politicized. And some people- not to mention names- need a reminder of what it means to be a public servant.
