The Double Dropkick Show

This is the WWE Bracket of our Fantasy Tournament.  We started with 128 wrestlers in 4 categories to get down to our eventual final 64.  Listen to our episodes on the NWA/WCW Brackets and the Miscellaneous bracket of guys who competed in Japan, ECW, or multiple places.  There are some HUGE surprises in this bracket due to the blind draw.  While the picture above shows a full bracket we only used this model to get down to 16 wrestlers for our final Fantasy bracket of 64.  We would love your comments by sending us a tweet @heathmullikin and @theddkshow or by joining and posting our Facebook Group, The Wrestling You Grew Up With. Robert Truesdale, aka Redbeard, joins me to talk about the Carolinas’ Professional Wrestling Awards for 2016 and the state of pro wrestling in the Carolina’s heading into 2017.  This was a fun conversation that I hope encourages Carolina promotions, promoters, and wrestlers to utilize social media to publicize their work.

The current state of wrestling is a funny thing. While many fans are dissatisfied with the WWE product others have given up on wrestling altogether. WE all go through phases in life where our circumstances take a little bit of our joy away from us. Over the past few months, Heath Mullikin and Mark Whitman have admittedly not been as passionate about wrestling, in particular the WWE product, and have gotten back to watching wrestling they actually love. This is the story of regaining our passion for wrestling and other random topics.

Spoiler Alert:  This episode was recorded on December 8, 2106 and Mark mentions that Chris Hero had stopped taking bookings for 2017.  It was then reported by various sources on December 11 that Hero had resigned with the WWE.  So, even if you didn’t hear it here first you must know that it was recorded here first.

This is part 2 of our Fantasy Tournament with the Miscellaneous Brackett.  We picked 32 wrestlers from ECW, Japan, World Class, and those who worked extensively for both WWE and NWA/WCW for this bracket. We then did a random draw to set up matches to get down to 16 wrestlers from each category to create the ultimate 64 man tournament.  We did the random draw to take out our personal biases so we could objectively debate who would win each match based on who was better, who would draw the most money, what was best for the whole tournament, and other factors.  While a full bracket is shown above the winners of these matches will be put into a random draw once the final 64 is complete.
