How might we look at genomics in office practice in Family Medicine?  Dr. Jonas, your host for the Dr. Synonymous Show, will dream a bit about what we are doing now and what might be. Responding to patients with painful situations is challenging in Family Medicine.  We love our  patients.  They hurt- we help.  But, their brain might get dysregulated by the pain via "wind-up" and potentially by opiate medications for persistent moderate or severe pain.  With FDA tightening up on prescribing rules for , many more patients are seeing their doctor monthly.  How do we respond to their frustrations at having to come in monthly for their pain management? Whither the Family Medical History?  As a family fanatic in a "Families Only" practice, I love the FMH and use it daily- over and over again.  It's rich and useful and ever changing.  A JAMA Viewpoint will be the stimulus for my comments. Food:  It's killing us and saving us at the same time.  Get a fork! is one of my current dogmas.  Is it that simple?  No wheat. More nuts.  More forks.? I'm still having fun in practice.  I may be somewhat delusional since the walls are moving in with IT and EMR's everywhere.  I do fear the loss of my voice as a Family Physician.  I comment on my blog about the Voice of Family Medicine.
