    Aisha K. Staggers had her first major publication, an album review, in The New Haven Register while just a sophomore in high school. Another series of reviews published in The Hartford Courant followed. By the time she reached college, Aisha was writing for the literary magazine and interning at a local radio station, ABC-affiliate as a writer in the news department and in the A&R department of an independent record company.

    As a graduate student at Fisk University, Aisha asked Dr. Raymond Winbush to chair her thesis because 1) he was one of the most renowned voices in black culture and academia, and 2) he was a Prince fan. His scholarship and guidance led Aisha to an early career as a professor of social sciences and later an administrator in higher education.

    Aisha has also served as a director of education and policy research centers and on the staff of legislative commissions. She previously served on the Executive Board of the CT Young Democrats' Women's Caucus, an avid campaigner and has remained active in politics and public policy.

    Ms. Jones is an activist, feminist, and a former collaborator with Paisley Park.

    Margaret Adekunle is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of City Lending Centers. A credit building solution company. Margaret has worked in the banking industry for 20 years, and her passion for progress and dedication to her community has been universally praised by Friends and Colleagues alike. She has seen the struggles immigrants face and experienced them firsthand, driving her forward to take action and uplift her community, so that nobody will have to endure their struggles alone. She founded Immigrants Inclusive Credit to tackle the complex struggles with systemic racism and financial insecurities that immigrants are forced to adapt to as they integrate into the Alberta ecosystem.

    Our guest on the April 3, 2022 episode of Black Canada Talking™ was Kelvin Nyeusi-Mawazo (pronounced "Nigh – ooo – see" – "Ma – wah – zo"). Kelvin is an author, illustrator, and owner of the publishing company named Black Sun Comics.

    They create Afrofuturist comics and graphic novels. Their books mix science, technology, magic & monsters with the timeless sophistication of black & white fine art.

    Set in an alternate universe on a planet named Alkebulan, Black Sun: The Longest Night is a graphic novel series that follows a group of unlikely heroes who must band together to reclaim their world from a ruthless, invading alien armada.

    Born and raised in Toronto (GTA), Canada, Kelvin uses the skills he's acquired as a Photographer, Front-end Web Developer, and College Instructor to digitally illustrate his books and teach others how to do the same via his YouTube channel.

    He is a self-proclaimed nerd, lover of science fiction, lo-fi instrumental Hip Hop, post-apocalyptic movies, and retro gaming.

    During our conversation, Kelvin talked about:
