    LeRon L. Barton is a writer from Kansas City, MO currently living in San Francisco, Ca. A graduate of Paseo Academy of Fine Arts, LeRon is the author of two books, "Straight Dope: A 360 degree look into American Drug Culture" and "All We Really Need Is Love: Stories of Dating, Relationships, Heartbreak, and Marriage." In addition to the books, LeRon is an essayist; whose topics cover racism, mass incarceration, politics, gender, and dating. These works have appeared in Salon, The Good Men Project, Elephant Journal, East Bay Times, and MoAD.

    Recently, Mr. Barton was on our show talking about his article Why I don't code switch.

  • THE DR. VIBE SHOW - DR. VIBE AND L.A. WADE - IS BLACKNESS ENDANGERED - DECEMBER 6 - 2018

    L.A. Wade graduated with a Hons. Bachelor Degree in Sociology and Religious Studies at the University of Toronto and completed a Master in Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. L.A. has been working as a Registrar and Sessional Lecturer at the Transitional Year Programme in the University of Toronto since 2009.

    Her creative and intuitive counselling ,and teaching style has proven to be a hit with the students who interact with her. L.A.'s research and publications have focused on access and equity, postcolonial thinking, and Black Feminist thought. Every year she is invited to teach from her chapter in Ruptures: Anti colonial & Anti-Racist Feminist Theorizing, 'Symbolic Proximity Rihanna Face to Face', where she discusses the contradictory nature of the Black Female's conformity for survival. Her approach is inspiring, innovative and empowering; this is how she approaches mostly anything and everything she does. She has experience in cross cultural learning environments and has worked with marginalized individuals across the spectrum of race, ability, sexual and gender preferences, age, socio economic status and indigenous groups.

    Apart from her educational experience, L.A. comes from a rich history in the Canadian sport and music industry as a promoter, networker and event planner. She also has a strong passion for philanthropy and has worked with many large-scale events and high profile personalities like the NBA All Star Game, and Edwin Encarnacion formally of the Toronto Blue Jays. She is set to release a podcast called The Elephant Room, where she plans to discuss the unspoken and taboo topics within the Black community.

    Recently, Dr. Vibe and Ms. Wade co-hosted the conversation Is Blackness Endangered?.

    During the conversation, they and the audience talked about:

  • THE DR. VIBE SHOW - AISHA K. STAGGERS - STAGGERS STATE OF THINGS - DECEMBER 19 - 2019

    Aisha K. Staggers had her first major publication, an album review, in The New Haven Register while just a sophomore in high school. Another series of reviews published in The Hartford Courant followed. By the time she reached college, Aisha was writing for the literary magazine and interning at a local radio station, ABC-affiliate as a writer in the news department and in the A&R department of an independent record company.

    As a graduate student at Fisk University, Aisha asked Dr. Raymond Winbush to chair her thesis because 1) he was one of the most renowned voices in black culture and academia, and 2) he was a Prince fan. His scholarship and guidance led Aisha to an early career as a professor of social sciences and later an administrator in higher education.

    Aisha has also served as a director of education and policy research centers and on the staff of legislative commissions. She previously served on the Executive Board of the CT Young Democrats' Women's Caucus, an avid campaigner and has remained active in politics and public policy.

    During the December 19, 2018 edition of Staggers State Of Things, Ms. Staggers talked about:
