Akley Olton is a creator of images from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines who uses art to share the beauty and contradictions of the Caribbean. He is a young man dedicated to the development of Caribbean cinema, trained in visual arts, graphic design and audiovisual production. Since 2011 he began to work as Director of Photography for Film Fiction, Documentary and Advertising. He studied Cinema (CINEMATOGRAPHY) at the International School of Cinema and TV EICTV, CUBA. He has worked on projects in St. Vincent and the Grenades, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Cuba, London, Canada and Ghana.
Recently, Mr. Olton was on our show today talking about his film BLACK DOLL which is being shown on the opening night at this year's Caribbean Tales Film Festival.

Dwayne Wright (Mr. Fresh) is an Canadian Award Winning Entrepreneur and C.E.O from Toronto. Aisha K. Staggers had her first major publication, an album review, in The New Haven Register while just a sophomore in high school. Another series of reviews published in The Hartford Courant followed. By the time she reached college, Aisha was writing for the literary magazine and interning at a local radio station, ABC-affiliate as a writer in the news department and in the A&R department of an independent record company.
As a graduate student at Fisk University, Aisha asked Dr. Raymond Winbush to chair her thesis because 1) he was one of the most renowned voices in black culture and academia, and 2) he was a Prince fan. His scholarship and guidance led Aisha to an early career as a professor of social sciences and later an administrator in higher education.
Aisha has also served as a director of education and policy research centers and on the staff of legislative commissions. She previously served on the Executive Board of the CT Young Democrats' Women's Caucus, an avid campaigner and has remained active in politics and public policy.
During the August 22, 2018 edition of Staggers State Of Things, Ms. Staggers talked about:

Chetachi A. Egwu is a Nigerian American professor, writer/producer, filmmaker, dancer/choreographer, artist and actor . She earned a BA in Communication from the University of Buffalo in 1996, then moved on to Howard University in Washington, DC, where she completed a Masters and Ph.D. in Mass Communication.
Dr. Egwu has served as a faculty member in the communication departments at Morgan State University, The George Washington University and Nova Southeastern University. She is currently communication faculty at the University of Maryland University College.
Her work has been featured in academic journals, newspapers and online publications such as The Grio and The Burton Wire, her creative nature reaches beyond writing. Dr. Egwu is also a dancer/choreographer and was a member of Carla and Company, Coyaba Dance Theater, Choreographers Collaboration Project in Washington DC and featured in several other projects. Ernest Owens is an award-winning journalist and editor for Philadelphia Magazine's G Philly and CEO of Ernest Media Empire, LLC. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, he covers a variety of social issues regarding race, LGBTQ, politics, and pop culture. As a Black gay journalist, his extensive reporting on racism in the LGBTQ community garnered national attention as he revealed acts of discrimination in Philadelphia's Gayborhood.
At 26 years old, Ernest has already used his growing platform to advocate for media diversity and inclusion. He serves on the boards of Philadelphia Community Access Media and the Pen & Pencil Club, the nation's oldest press club. His work has been featured on CNN, NPR, NBC News, USA Today, BET, and other media outlets. He's a member of the Online News Association, the Society of Professional Journalists, and the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ). He was named the 2016 Trailblazer of the Year by the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists and won the 2017 James Aronson Award for Social Justice Journalism for his coverage on racial discrimination in the LGBTQ community, among other honors.
