Hi, I'm Dr. Sam Fecich and I am here to tell you that teaching doesn't begin when you walk across the stage at graduation, but instead teaching begins during your first college class at 8:00 AM.
I like to think of myself as a "Game Changer" (KTI 2017) in the field of higher education and educational technology. I am a professor at Grove City College, where I teach undergraduate pre-service education majors about the beauties of educational technology. I enjoy taking preservice teachers to educational workshops, events, and conferences to attend and present. It is a great way to network and build your professional learning community. I earned my Ph.D. from Penn State in Learning, Design, and Technology. But before my travels to PSU, I taught students with special needs for four years. I taught for two years as a teacher for students who were diagnosed with multiple disabilities and for two years as a technology integration teacher. My expertise is in assistive technology, specifically in augmented and alternative communication. I have experience consulting, evaluating, and training students, parents, teachers, and other professionals regarding AT and AAC devices. I enjoy going to flea markets, collecting pinball machines (my husband fixes them and I play them), baking (I make an awesome chocolate truffle), working out, and spending time with my family. EduMagic: A Guide for Preservice Teachers This book challenges the thought that “teaching” begins only after certification and college graduation. Instead, it describes how students in teacher preparation programs have value to offer their future colleagues, even as they are learning to be teachers! This book provides positive examples, helpful tools, and plenty of encouragement for preservice teachers to learn, to dream, and to do.

Dr. Lindsay Padilla is an ex-community college professor who accidentally started a business while on the tenure track. Now, as the CEO and co-founder of the Hello Audio software, which takes your content and creates private audio feeds to make learning on the go much easier for your people, Lindsay challenges online industry norms of unfinished courses and unconsumed content with her product.
All of her business ideas were born out of her tenure-track years teaching adults online at a community college, the ridiculous amount of learning she's done in all things education, and the years spent growing her course creation business online.
