Widowed, alone, and penniless, Eleanor Rayburn is devastated when she learns that her late husband sold his shares of the ship before he died. Desperate to take back what she believes is rightfully hers, she sets out to fight back against the handsome but arrogant owner of the whaler. Marine naturalist Dante Templeton survived a hard life, and has found success as an activist against the killing of whales or any marine animal for profit. But it's his own personal grudge against an enemy from his past that fuels his disdain for Eleanor, and his determination to keep her from reclaiming her share of stocks in the whaler. As the feud heats up between Dante and Eleanor, so does the blaze of passion. But is Dante's love for Eleanor enough to smother his fiery hatred for her husband?

Wonderful romance story
This was another excellent book by this author. I enjoyed the way the romance between the hero and heroine developed throughout the story. The storyline was extremely interesting and well written. I have enjoyed all of this author's books because of her style of writing, including this book.
This was a five star book and well worth reading.
Best Book Award for 2001
This wonderful book should be on everyone's Must Read List! Multi-published Jane Bonander introduces a fascinating hero, Dante Templeton. "He was a carnal man" is the opening description but we soon learn that Dante's powerful sexuality and fearsome tattoos masking scars on his chest are mere surface characteristics of this deeply complex man. Widow Eleanor Rayburn is homeless and penniless when she meets Dante Templeton, who is determined that her ship will never hunt whales again. A cast of needy children and insensitive relatives contribute to further emotional layering in The Dragon Tamer and the wonderfully satisfying ending will make you wish this book never ended...
The Dragon Tamer
Wow, I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars! I am such a fan of Jane's and was so excited about her new book, the Dragon Tamer. All of Jane's books are very romantic and this new one is no different, although I thought it was a little more erotic than her others but very tastefully done! You are just going to love the story of the plain widow, Eleanor and the handsome Dragon Tamer! I read this in one day!!!
The Dragon Tamers
The chilling reality of nuclear weapons should be enough to interest us in the events and persons that created them, but the history lesson in the Manhattan Project is far from all that makes The Dragon Tamers a 'must read'. Tom Wolfram, himself a distinguished scientist, has not only recreated the tensions of the time and brought to life the pertinent events, leaders, and scientists (including spies), he has fashioned a novel with compelling human interest.
The story centers around physicist Michael Ericksson, his lover and fellow scientist Kathleen O'Connell, and a most vengeful arch-villian, Klaus Kriegmann. There were, in fact, real spies who compromised the A-bomb project -most notably Klaus Fuchs -but Kriegmann, seeks not only to sabotage the project, he is also committed to torture-murdering Ericksson as revenge for an earlier confrontation.
