Love Found and a Love to Be Found
This is a new author to me and I really like her writing. This book was so interesting that I couldn't put it down. I could relate to the characters as they were lifelike and the storyline was terrific. Of course, there were some twists and turns to keep it interesting to the end. Eli, Anna, Daniel, Eleanor were loving and fun. Theoran made a great villain. I've read this story out of order, so now, I'm going to read the first book in the series and I also signed up for book 3. I definitely recommend this book. Enjoy!
My only complaint...too short!!
Oh my goodness...loved the first and this one didn't disappoint! I haven't read very many series where I'm anxious to find out how everything resolves...right now, it's still a mystery! Love all the moving parts...when one aspect is revealed, another pops up to keep you riveted!
Great Read
I am voluntarily writing a review for an ARC and have also read the first book in this series. I loved the first one book and now have fallen for the second book. I am a sucker for dragon shifter books and this one was great! Had great characters and would recommend reading the first book to get the full affect but it did not necessary. Would definitely recommend this to people. I liked it so much that I bought it for my daughter.
Mixed feelings but...
I'm going to give this a four minus. Similar to a B-.
The stuff I didn't like:
Insta-love. It's just me, I know, but seriously not a fan. I feel like the meat of the story is missing when there's no build up. A character isn't as developed and its like a cop out for the author. I knew going into this book that this was the type of story so I'm not holding it against them. Altho I will say the characters don't seem very developed here.
Time jumps. Normally this isn't a issue for me, but it just seems like too much is left out of the story in this case. When I say time jumps, I'm referring to the story moving forward with either weeks or months left out.
The stuff I liked:
The still untold evil. We know it's coming. We are given abundant references to the root of evil coming - almost to the point it's irritating (enough with the "I'm not telling you what's coming" between the king and queen already!). But the unknown keeps you drawn in.
Points of view equally shared. Ergo Eli and Anna are still involved while Daniel and Eleanor's story builds.
Plot. Despite the things I didn't like, the plot is good. Writing is good. I'm intrigued enough that I want to keep going and I'll definitely read the third book. The way this ended, I'm not even sure Theron is as bad as we are led to believe.
