When I first got interested in Ayurveda, I thought it was only connected with food, nutrition, and eating well.

But it’s so much more than that.

Being an entrepreneur is a spiritual path. I'm certain about it now, but it didn't always feel like this. 

As a musician, I rejected business. I used to say that I didn't want to be a suit. 

Something about "being a suit" scared me. Then I got involved in the family business and realized that spirituality and creativity are core ingredients of entrepreneurship. 

I'm an entrepreneur because I'm creative, not in spite of it. And today's guest, John Ratliff, agrees with me.  

John Ratliff is the CEO of Scaling Up Coaches and the managing director and partner of align5, a strategic consultancy firm. Shame and guilt were usually associated with sex when I was growing up. Masturbation was even considered a highway to hell. 

But embracing shame and guilt to take my power back wasn’t a good alternative. Because then different experiences only felt like sex if they felt wrong. 

Now, when I’m with someone I love, and we’re having sex because we love each other, it’s very different from what I experienced when I was younger. But, then, I wasn’t taught about sex as a beautiful act imbued with love and pleasure. 

I was taught sex was linked with shame, guilt, and regret. And maybe this is your experience, too, because considering sex as a shameful act is deeply ingrained in our culture. 

Today’s guest, Miss Jaiya, shows us another way of enjoying sex, pleasure, and connection without the negative connotations we were used to listening to when growing up.   

Miss Jaiya is an internationally recognized somatic sexologist and best-selling author. She’s the creator of The Erotic Blueprint, and you may have seen her on the Netflix show “Sex, Love & goop”. I’m also grateful to call her a dear friend of mind.

In aviation, we always speak about putting your oxygen mask first before helping anybody else. However, this is easier said than done in other contexts. Putting oneself first is sometimes seen as a negative and selfish decision.   

This is also connected to inner judgment. My inner judgment is holding me back from being selfish and accepting what I truly desire for myself. But, again, it’s my projection of what I believe other people will think of me because I already think about myself that way. 

The truth is that we are born selfish. And that is trained out of us. So if we can connect with our selfishness, we will be in charge of our own happiness and create more fulfilling relationships simultaneously. This is what Christine Meyer taught me in our conversation.

You won’t really know fulfillment until you are able to receive the love of others. You can do the most courageous things in the world. You can have all the accolades, titles, and accomplishments. 

But it won’t be until you allow yourself to be carried by someone else that you will understand what real fulfillment is. 

This is the most important and beautiful part of my conversation with today’s guest, Grant Korgan. 

After sustaining a spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed from the waist down, Grant refused to be limited by this new condition. 

As the emerging face of spinal cord recovery, he harolds his message of choosing positivity through adversity. Grant is an author, adventurer, pilot, a highly requested speaker, and the director of the Moment Foundation, an aviation-based nonprofit.
