On today’s episode we have Iguehi James, CEO of Love Iguehi, an African inspired clothing brand for women. Iguehi not only holds it down as a solopreneur, but also as a wife and mom of a set of twins and six year old daughter.
Iguehi is a proud Nigerian American, but as a child was embarrassed by her sun-kissed skin, broad nose, and hard to pronounce name. Today she infuses her culture into making comfortable and fashionable apparel using vibrant fabrics from the motherland.
With the help of YouTube and a sewing machine given to her by her mother, Iguehi began sewing as a hobby and gained traction after friends continuously asked for a skirt of their own.
After four years of sweat, blood, and tears Iguehi operates Love Iguehi on a full-time basis after taking a leap of faith by quitting her full time job to pursue this dream. In this episode she keeps it honest about how she loves herself, empowers her daughters, honors black culture, and maintains through the peaks and valleys of entrepreneurship.
