Zach and Phil open the third hour predicting growing pains for Bo Nix in his rookie season but what are the oddsmakers predicting? Zach asks Phil where it's better to run out of the tunnel, the NFL or Folsom Field with Ralphie? They stay in college to look at some billboard material for the CU locker room. The NBA Finals starts tonight, the guys give their predictions but Zach has history on his side. They finish the third hour breaking down the big news that Courtland Sutton will be at Mandatory Minicamp and what it means for the Broncos.
Zach and Phil enter the fourth and final hour on the text line getting our listeners involved in the Courtland Sutton conversation. They hear from Sean Payton on Jay Glazer's podcast to learn a bit more about the man instead of the coach. They are joined by The Denver Post's Troy Renck to talk about the money the Broncos are going to have to throw around soon. Troy tells them how excited Sean Payton is about Lucas Krull. Zach shows us the human side of our abrasive head coach, airing a clip of Sean Payton getting real about his family and his background. They close out the show with their NBA Finals predictions.
Zach and Phil cross talk with Stokely and Josh about some new big money deals that are about to go down. They dig into some new Courtland Sutton news, from a contract projection to a new team that has been linked to him. Lucas Krull has stood out in camp but Zach is pumping the brakes on the hype train, he's thinking the Broncos can make a deal. Zach and Phil take a look at the Stanley Cup odds for the Avs and have a real discussion about how realistic it is that they can get back.
Zach and Phil opent the second hour with The Big Story of the Day: an extra day of Broncos OTA's where Sean Payton will have to decide who run with the 1's. Should that day go to Bo? or, should he earn the job the old fashioned way? The Three Count features a brand new mega deal for the NBA's TV rights that'll create a whole new tax bracket, CU's CFP title odds, and more proof that basketball players are the world's best athletes. The guys clonclude the hour regaling us with the wild story of Jontay Porter's gambling ring.
Zach and Phil open the third hour of the show trying to answer the biggest question in Denver sports: what does a fair contract extension for Courtland Sutton look like? What happens if the two sides can't come to a deal? Well, there's a report linking Sutton to a possible contender. They get into a heated debate about extending Sutton at all after getting our listeners involved on the text line. Zach pitches a trade to improve the TE room and deal with a malcontent within the Broncos. Zach and Phil take a look at the brand new Stanley Cup odds that have the Avs surprisingly high.
Zach and Phil open the fourth and final hour of The Drive wondering which key Avalanche player will come back first, Gabe or Val? They pivot to the Broncos, what they do with their extra day of OTA's. Does Bo Nix run with the 1's or does Stidham keep his day in the rotation? They look into the full story of Jontay Porter's gambling story that plays out like a Martin Scorsese film. They close out the show joined by Scrappy Will Petersen to get his take on the Avs' odds and the Jontay Porter story.
Zach and Phil come into the show chating about their golf game with Stokely and Josh before giving them a championship hypothetical on the way out. Zach poses a question to Phil: What would be the bigger feather in Sean Payton's cap, resurrecting Zack Wilson's career or developing Bo Nix into a true franchise QB? They wonder if CU Buffs football has a chance to be the biggest story in college football again in 2024. The guys take a look at the history books to try and gauge the Nuggets chances to get another championship when they're not going for a repeat.
Zach and Phil open the second hour with The Big Story of the Day: the final phase of Broncos OTA's. Zach and Phil open the third hour wondering if there is a real chance that Zach Wilson actually starts for the Broncos after taking reps with the 1's in the final phase of OTA's today. They debate which young QB would be the better option to start for the Broncos between Zach Wilson and Bo Nix. Zach gave his take on the hypothetical and so did Phil, but what do the Denver fans think? Would they take a guaranteed week one win with Zach Wilson under center or venture into uncertainty with Bo Nix? They conclude the hour telling us why the CU Buffs could be even bigger than they were last year.
Zach and Phil open the fourth and final hour joined by James Merilatt, a CU alumni, to talk about how his alma mater has been changed by the Coach Prime effect. Then they pivot to the Broncos OTA's where Sean Payton talked about the Courtland Sutton situation and how he would handle an unexcused absence. They bring on Cecil Lammey to explain why Sutton's holdout is very ill-advised and to tell us what he saw from the Broncos in OTA's. Cecil goes off on the PFF roster ranking and explains why he believes the Bronocs could be 5-3 by November. Zach and Phil reflect on the more human qualities of Sean Payton, for better and for worse, after his first season and after showing his softer side to the media today. Zach and Phil close out the show with a hard conversation the Avs might have to have about one of their best players.
