Rock concerts involving audience participation and embracing your fellow concert goer verses an opera production in an upscale theatre requiring a quiet and attentive audience. So why is it when it comes to school band concerts, parents are the worst audience? (from December 15, 2022)

When the grunge movement took over the music scene, all the 80's bands were left wondering where they fit in all of it. Some attempted to continue by altering their sound to match what was coming of of Seattle but lacked the culture of what came out of the Pacific Northwest. Drums by nature, are loud. With learning any instrument comes a lot of "noise". Parents need to support their student by allowing them to practice. It's not about you, it's about them. Enjoy the process! (formerly Coffee with Fred December 1 2022)

It's been my opinion of "less is more" has been a way to discourage musicians from the exploratory part of music. I think Neil Peart described is best...KISS Keep it Simple Stupid...leads LOVE Leave out Virtually Everything. What we should make is MUSIC Make Up Something Interesting & Complimentary.
