In our "Best of Season 2" series, we revisit all of the answers from the rapid fire question, "What is your go to order at a down the bayou restaurant?".
Over the past two seasons, we covered many different topics, from social issues to local restaurants. Until now, the one topic we hadn’t touched on was sports. Our area is home to one of the most iconic voices in sports today and that voice is none other than Mike Detillier. Mike is a native of Mathews and made a name for himself by his time on sports radio, television, and most importantly his draft report. These days, you can hear Mike every afternoon on WWL Radio giving his expert analysis along with the South Lafourche’s own, The Cajun Cannon Bobby Hebert. In our last episode of season two, Mike tells us about himself and his family, some amazing stories his years in sports media, and the things he's doing to better our community. In the times of crisis, heroes and leaders emerge. Many times, these heroes and leaders come from the local fire departments. When choosing to be part of a fire department, it takes more than just courage, it is about sacrificing themselves for something greater than themselves. The people of Lafourche Parish Fire District #3, are prime examples of courage and sacrifice. In the past couple of years, they have had to respond to major incidents that drew national attention and have done so just as heroes and leaders would do! In this episode, Devin Dedon, Lynn Rogers, and Jada Pitre, give us a glimpse into what they do for our community. Do you remember when you were a child and your parents would tell you that you could be anything you wanted to be, you just had to put in the work? Most children would say they wanted to be a policeman, an astronaut, a singer, or even a brain surgeon. The guest in this episode took that parental guidance to heart and did in fact become a surgeon… a neurosurgeon. Raised in Lockport, Lindsay Mayet, now Dr. Lindsay Lasseigne, has taken her talents home and is one of two neurosurgeons at Thibodaux Regional Health Systems. In this episode, Dr. Lasseigne sits down with us to tell us her story of how her bayou roots motivates her to serve her community with not only her profession, but also her compassion. You can follow Dr. Lasseigne on Instagram or find her office information at the links below.

Since before our ancestors settled here, land was used for farming. Raising animals not only provided food for families but also income. Today, that way of life may not be that popular, but there are still people finding ways to keep farming alive. That brings us to this episode, a discussion with a local family and their unique way of farming. Jeray Jambon Jarreau fills in for Brennan Matherne to chat with Bryce and Meagan Cheramie, owners and farm hands of Cheramie Farms. Located in Cut Off, LA, Bryce and Meagan use their farm to reach the community in ways that not many others do. Tune in to hear what they do and how they do it, along with future endeavors for their farm and lives. For more information on Cheramie Farms, you can check them out at the link below:
