Welcome to the very first episode of The Dwelling Place! I’m Lexie Mahaffey, and I am so thrilled you’re here. Whether this is your first time hearing my voice or we’ve crossed paths before, I’m incredibly grateful you’ve decided to join me on this journey.
This podcast has been a long time coming—a little dream that’s lived in the background of my heart for years. But I truly believe now is the time. Every step that’s led to this moment has felt intentional and God-ordained. And now, here we are. This space, this podcast, is as much for me as it is for you. I’m learning to dwell again, too.
In today’s episode, I want to give you a sense of who I am—where I come from, what makes me laugh, what I’ve walked through, and why The Dwelling Place exists. You’ll hear some of my story: a small-town Illinois girl who followed Jesus through college, seminary, and ministry, all the way to the Pacific Northwest—where I now live with my labradoodle, Milo, and my soon-to-be husband, Michael.
But more than just a personal intro, this episode is an invitation—to slow down, breathe deeply, and begin the journey of dwelling with God in a way that is yours. Not prescribed, not performance-based, but deeply personal and sustainable. If you’ve ever felt like traditional quiet time methods just don’t work for you, I see you. And I want to walk with you as you create rhythms that fit your real, beautiful, imperfect life.
We’ll chat about the heart behind the name The Dwelling Place, what you can expect from future episodes, and how this podcast hopes to feel like a cozy, grace-filled space—like coffee with a friend who gets it.
