Publisher's Summary:
A rigorously accurate historical novel, The Eagle's Daughter is also a lush romance, a tale of Theophano's Aunt Asapasia's very dangerous love affair with Otto the Great's Moorish physician. Asapasia was a royal princess in her own right, a widow who was companion and advisor to Theophano. Through her eyes the listener sees the contrast between the surviving Byzantine Empire and the re-emerging Western Empire.
Critic Reviews:
"[Theophano is] a powerful central character who does what may seem impossible, namely making a story about life in tenth-century Germany interesting....Tarr keeps listeners intrigued with revolutions, political maneuvering, and illicit sex....Anna Fields...does a good job conveying the personalities of the many characters." Meh.
This should have been a great read, but the lack of intensity in the narration and lifeless writing sucked the joy out of a gripping historical story.
