In this episode I discuss the lack of care provided from men when their female partners are unwell and need care. As the care giver I find that when one is ill you just get on with it but when the person is extremely ill and can't care for themselves if they don't have a network of sisterhood they could end up neglected and in come cases it could be fatal.

This week were 3 nil down I would say. A young lady died in crown outside the venue of the Asake concert in London'd Brixton Academy O2. Very Sad. May her soul Rest in Peace.  The second part to Megan and Harry was worse than the first part. I'm also looking for a hairstylist who can braid hair well and is respectful with my time.

WHERE ARE YOUR PEOPLE FROM? 

This week Buckingham Palace is being exposed again for claims of racism. Brown skin- by India Arie is a song that celebrates and appreciates people from the black community. I made a connection to it because within black and brown communities when we ask the question "where are your people from?" it is to build connections and a form of bounding and understanding. When  this same question is asked by somebody outside of the melanated community it is a form of othering and indirectly letting the person know that you don't belong here. In the UK we still can't seem to talk about race without tiptoeing around the matter.   

NICE WHITE PARENTS 

I talk about a podcast that I recently listened to based on an experience of a white middle class parent documenting her experience in New York Brooklyn, the gentrification of inner city school and how it effects families from black and brown communities and those of lower income. I was not surprised by some of their actions and responses because it's always from a well meaning place but it ends up harming marginalised communities.

This episode goes riffs off a video that went viral were a west African family have an intervention for their father and he's side chicks. They read out all of the text messages for the family to hear including the mother. This situation had me thinking about real life situations of friends and friends of friends who were heartbroken when they found out that their father was unfaithful.

In this episode I discuss what it is to do water activities (SWIMMING) when you have black hair. What that means for treatments, styling and trying to keep your hair is good condition even with wigs, weaves and braids. When you don't have type 4c hair you just don't get it!

ALSO...

The down side of being a nice person is that people take liberties and believe that you are stupid. Kindness is always taken as a weakness. With that said; in this episode, I go on to discuss childcare, the ups and downs of it all. The sacrifices that parents make when making career choices and choosing (if you can afford to have) a nanny. If not most people rely on their family network for support if they have it. I touch on issues surrounding being the first daughter/first child in a west African household the impact it has on all children involved.

The morel of this story is that people should look after their CHILDREN where they can and not make excuses.

I discuss had hair days and some of the embarrassing events i remember surrounding my hair.

After the recent events of Ronke Ademiluyi  the founder of African fashion week in the UK becoming the 5th wife of a Nigerian king. "Having earned a law degree from West London University, she founded Africa Fashion Week London. It is one of the largest annual fashion events in the UK, which supports the work of designers with African fashion designers and designs. - pulse.ng.  

It lead me discuss the secret lives of women who are in polygamous marriages.
