BIG IDEA: Two things are continuously at play for the believer concerning our media consumption. We are either allowing ourselves to be conformed to the image of this world and captured by its ideas and philosophies or transformed into the image of Christ and set free through communion with God and His people. We are called to be the influencers (salt and light) of this world, and not those influenced by it.

God created entertainment, story, and song, to have a significant influence on us. When used to behold God and His glory, they transform us into His image. BIG IDEA: You have to posture your heart so God can position you. Serve and endure for the sake of the Gospel. Be disciplined not just only in your actions but be disciplined in turning to the face of Jesus during suffering. We voluntarily suffer to please God. The result is sharing the reward. Jesus suffered in order to give us access to the grace that we are strengthened by. Remember his suffering during our suffering. Don't suffer for no reason. Suffer for the sake of the Gospel which won't return void.

BIG IDEA We adults and students alike are all being shaped (conformed) by the media we consume (take in), whether we are aware of it or not. The truth is, we can have a say in how we are shaped, or we can let inertia (culture - the world and its ideas) shape us instead of God and His Word. When we allow the world to shape us, the results are painful and regrettable—filled with shame, anxiety, loneliness, and hopelessness. But when Jesus becomes our LORD (greatest influencer), our lives become filled with hope and purpose.
