On January, 28th 1969 Santa Barbara experienced the third-worst oil spill in American history. To commemorate the anniversary of this terrible event, this episode of 'The Edit' features an interview by KCRW's Jonathan Bastian with Pacific Standard reporters Kate Wheeling and Max Ufberg. During the conversation, Wheeling and Ufberg describe the reporting that went into their oral history of the spill, and how the fall-out from the spill shaped significant environmental legislation in the years to follow. Special thanks to KCRW for allowing us to re-air this interview, and for all their assistance in helping us to create this show.
