The Edmonton Oilers battled hard against the league-leading Winnipeg Jets but ultimately fell 3-2 in overtime at Rogers Place. It was a breakout night for Jeff Skinner, as he buried two goals while skating on the top line with Connor McDavid. The game had a playoff-like intensity, with two high-powered teams trading chances all game long.

Unfortunately, the biggest storyline of the night was McDavid’s injury. He left late in the second period with a lower-body injury and did not return, leaving Oilers fans holding their breath. To make matters worse, Stuart Skinner was pulled from the game with five minutes left after a collision in the crease with Gabe Vilardi, forcing Calvin Pickard to come in for relief. In the end, Kyle Connor sealed the win for Winnipeg in OT with his 38th goal of the season.
