Throughout the last two years, much thought has been paid to how imbalanced privilege is in every part of life, and a lot of our eyes have been opened to see the predominance of systems of oppression built into our world.
Today, my guest gets personal about her individual experiences with racism in an effort to share just how big of an impact systems and individual expressions of ignorance or hate have had on her self perception and her mental health.
We discuss anti-Asian racism in the context of the pandemic and how scary it was for her. She shares her knowledge on Japanese internment camps, dating and racism and explains the layers of privilege that exist within it. She offers her personal experience and her knowledge as a therapist to give practical tips on how to cope with the heaviness of all this.
