This week I had the privilege to sit down with my boss and friend Brian "Bubba" Crowder. Bubba is the founder and director of Fund The Nations. Based in the Memphis area, Fund the Nations is a Memphis based company that has helped families and individuals raise money for adoptions and mission trips among many other possibilities through designing and creating really cool t shirts. I tried to keep the sucking up to a minimum but it did show up in the most genuine way that I think I could have done that and it was with appreciation. We get to dive into what Fund The Nations is, how it came to be, where it is going, and the responsibility behind it all. 

This week we were lucky enough to have on Lisa Toro! Owner, operator, and overall badass of City & State. The beautifully curated and beautifully crafted Coffee/Goods shop on Broad Ave. She let us in on the world of taking a dream, an idea and turning it into something you didn't expect but wholeheartedly embraced the challenge. I love that she wants to not only expand the City & State kingdom but she also has a vested interest in helping others pursue their passions. We loved having Lisa on and we are so excited about the "Liquor Store"....confused? Give the pod a listen!  

This week on the Electric Brain we have my friend Ben Fulfer. Ben and I met working at Urban Outfitters about 5 years ago and we instantly connect by quoting 'How I Met Your Mother' quotes. The rest has been a blur with me changing jobs and him...changing jobs. Ben came and joined us on the podcast to promote his brand Bozwell + Lily. B+L lives in the now through the stories of our past and the through the feel and vibe of our town, Memphis. He also wanted to promote the upcoming even at Loflin Yard called 'Presenting Bozwell + Lily. The event will held at Loflin Yard on Sunday April 23rd. There he will be introducing himself to world and he will have friends and musical guests Grace Askew, The Wealthy West, and Matthew Wright! Hey guys! Thanks for listening to the latest Electric Brain Podcast! Today we have on my good friend Andrew Perry! This is a special edition indeed because we are promoting Andrew's Brain Benefit! What this benefit is for is to raise money for Andrew and his family. As he describes in the podcast he unfortunately had to have a second surgery to help eliminate a BRAIN FUNGUS! Holy smokes. He had his first surgery in 2011 and it was suppose to work but sadly his brain succumbed to the fungus once again. Luckily he when to a world renowned surgeon in Pittsburgh that deals with these sort of things (even though they had not seen anything like this). Andrew is now recovering and is expected not to have to deal with this again. Anyway, with world renowned surgeries comes world renowned bills. And that is where we come in! This Friday, March 24th. We will be hosting Andrew's Brain benefit to help support him and his family! There is no one I know who is more deserving of having this benefit put on for and I am proud he is my friend! So let us all do our small part to help someone in need! We will have live music from Hunter Bobo, Jon and Morgan Gaines, Josh Kubler, and Josh Green! It will be held at the Fund The Nations office on Friday, March 24th at 7 pm. Doors will open at 6 and the cost is $10 dollars. 

Also featuring on the podcast is returning guest Hunter Bobo and podcaster Ben Williams (The Ministry Scrubs). We all sit down to discuss so fun, heavy, and dare I say odd topics. 

I don't know what it is but there is something about those four years that changes you from a boy into a slightly larger boy. High School is different for everyone and I think that I tried each one of those paths. As I look back I see my life play out in a series of John Hughes movies. Welcome back for another Dadcast! This time we have my father-in-law Eric Anderson. Pop to the family. We had a great time discussing his life and how it lead to where he is now and the life lessons he learned on the way. He tells us what he thinks is vital to teach your children and even tells us that he was surprised that she learned by just watching him. That is something as a parent you forget. Sushi on a food truck might sound like the crazy idea. A crazy good idea!!!! I don't know if Jimmy was the first one to do this. I assume not. But he is the first and only one to do this in Memphis and he has quickly become a Memphis staple. Yes we have BBQ, we have Fried Chicken, we have Burgers, but we HAVE SUSHI! I recommend this to all of my out of town friends. I always tell them you've got to hit up Central to have REAL Barbeque and you have to hit up Sushi Jimmi. A true fusion of his live growing up in a Vietnamese house hold and eating on the streets of LA. Jimmi has a real knack for what he does and I urge each one of you to try it and then come back and thank me. You can even by a shirt. I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed meeting him.

If you want to be the best, book the best. haha! We are far from the best podcast but we really have been lucky to book the best guests! I know that is usually up for debate but in this case it really happened. On today's episode of The Electric Brain Podcast we have the world renowned Chef Kelly English! Owner, Operator, Chef of Restaurant Iris and The Second Line (pictured above). We didn't know what to expect and our nerves were high but they were lowered quickly. Kelly was such a down to earth guy and someone who I could tell who did not take himself to seriously. We talked about food, life, Memphis. We make some horribly inappropriate jokes that are completely appropriate for this setting. It was a lot of fun and I hope we will come on again so we can dive deeper into some of the topics we touched at the top of this episode. So thanks to Kelly English and enjoy this new episode of The Electric Brain. 

WE'RE BACK! 

As you can see by the picture above I have a pretty big addition into my life! Soon little dude (Henry Call Holcomb) will be here and this will no longer be the Nursery/Podcasting Studio. All is well, I bought this house. I can do what I want! (most of the time). The Guest Room will now become The Electric Brain Studio until the one we are working on is finished! Now enough of that crap. Lets get to the good stuff, the podcast. We have be out of commission the last three freaking months but we do have some wonderful interviews lined up for you. Matt and I have decided that we are going to change stuff up a bit. EB is still young and we are trying to figure out the best system for these thing. So we are just going to start releasing theses things as they come out and not on a subject type format. Unfortunately what we have recorded recently is all about food and that may not be unfortunate at all because honestly who doesn't love food?! Like seriously! Who doesn't! I will find you.
