Episode 33! After a brief hiatus, the Cybercast is back and ready for action - and it's a sneaking mission. Before D&D soak in the sure-to-be-everlasting-genius that is Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, they felt the need to explain the series history to their loved ones. Davis attempts to fill his wife in on the backstory of Big Boss and his three crazy cloned kids, while David and his father have a heart-to-heart on both the series as a whole, as well as the plot for the upcoming entry. The Cybercast: it's a family program.
Episode 32! Some things go bump in the night, others go drool in a space station and sometimes Brett Douville asks you to hide under desks for extended periods of time. We played Alien Isolation with Mr. Douville and discussed the inner workings of why videogames are scary and what movies we shouldn't have seen when we were 4 years old. Game over man. Game over.
Episode 31.5! World-weary, beaten and nearly broken, our hapless protagonists collect their wits and discuss the World Series of Videogame Marketing, E3. Along the way, hear from some of the very people who attened this actual event, along with what they're playing for "fun," which is something we've heard is actually the point of why people play videogames.
Episode 31! After battling the Russians in the apocalypse, Arman and Daniel from Built to Play told us to play the most logical follow-up: Analogue: A Hate Story by Christine Love. We explored the depths of 600-year-old emails from the future and talked to computers pretending to be people. We did all of this for you, dear listeners.
Episode 30! It's podcast vs. podcast in an epic battle to see who can out-pop-culture reference one another when Arman and Daniel from Built to Play team up to play Metro 2033 with David and Davis. Who knew that 4 grown men could talk about pirate ghosts for such an extended period of time and then put it on the internet.
Episode 29! In part two of our first-ever-accidental-Zelda-stravaganza, we barter with the cartoonish capitalism of Freshly Picked: Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland for the Nintendo DS, per Parker Higgins' suggestion/demands to us. What follows are our musings on Jodie Foster, Adam Smith, Laverne and Shirley, a 35-year-old man who decides he wants to be a fairy, and the increasingly thin thread connecting all of them.
The Electric Cybercast: killing our idols since 2014.
Episode 28! The boys get out a party bowl, fill it with Deku nuts, Chex Mix and skulltulas and get extremely existential about Majora's Mask with guest Parker Higgins of the EFF. Ths is pretty much how all of their parties go.
Episode 27! The guys check out Mike Rugnetta of PBS Idea Channel's pick, the befuddling-and-proud-of-it "Starseed Pilgrim," a game about blocks and planting more blocks and being confused. Also discussed way too much: '90s bands and business.
Episode 26! Mike Rugnetta from PBS Idea Channel and Reasonably Sound joins David and Davis to tap away at their keyboards on a text adventure game: Zork. In addition to discussing whether it's truly possible to emulate old software, we all become so relaxed it's anxiety-inducing.
Bonus Episode! David's out on the road and regales us with his tales of the far-off land of San Francisco and GDC. The boys discuss virtual reality and Bright Eyes because we are so indie and cool and hip and wear hoodies with thumbholes cut out of them and you just wouldn't understand.
