Today on the Elite Physical Therapy podcast we are joined by special guest Jason Harvey PT, MSPT who is a co-owner of Elite Physical Therapy. We have a great discussion about baseball rehabilitation, especially those who are suffering from a throwing related injury. Jason discusses the most commonly seen deficits in young athletes who have sustained an injury from throwing a baseball and how physical therapy can help analyze and rehabilitate these patients to return back to sport. Jason delves deeper into the actual biomechanics that the shoulder and elbow go through during a pitch. He discuss the mechanics from the moment a pitchers starts their wind up all the way to when they release the ball and follow through motion. He discusses further the required biomechanics, range of motion, stability, and strength needed by an athletes shoulder, elbow, trunk, and hip to throw properly and reduce the risk of injury in future outings. We move into discussing how COVID could effect players off all ages risk of injury due to reduction in spring training and practice prior to the seasons starting. Overall a great and very informative podcast thats a great listen for all, especially those who are baseball athletes, parents of those athletes, or someone who just loves the game itself and would like to learn more about it.
