  • Jess & Jaclyn Lee
Jess was a confused kid. Class clown meets micro bully. I didn't like him when he first waled in to Elkhart high school as a freshman. He was cocky.
Eventually we became buddies but soon drifted apart.
Jess has dealt with depression for his entire life. He tried thereapy, considered medication but eventually found peace when he gave his life to Christ. This journey was not easy. He went down swinging.
Jess is now a preacher in Elkhart. He does his services on facebook live.
He was able to find peace through prayer.
**not everyone is the same, some people (including myself) require therapy and medication.

  • Jorge Goes to Jail
I met Jorge when I was 21. We both worked at Papa Johns on Falls of Neuse south of the belt line. We hit it off rather quickly and ended up being roommates. Within the first few weeks of bonding he confided in me that he was wanted by the US Marshals. I didn't really believe him. One day I came home to our house in ruin. All the dogs were out of the kennels, everything was chewed up. Poop and pee everywhere.
The Marshals had shown up and taken Jorge away.
Over the years Jorge and I talked less and less. When we do catch up it is a mixture of new found soberness and a love for life or a sad addicted again situation.
I love Jorge and hope he is well.
At the end of the episode I share a song I wrote about Jorge.

  • Homicide Loss - LVM ADVNTGE
61, Homicide Loss - LVM ADVNTGE
Don't let the LOSS take over your MIND, use it to your ADVNTGE.
Rebecca Benny was 17 and in high school the day she had to gather her friends and tell them her mom had been killed. She was closer to her father than her mother at the time, and she has been left with the task of figuring out her complicated relationship with her mother now as a motherless daughter. Besides gathering her friends that day to tell them the news, it wasn't typical of Rebecca to speak about her mother, Luz V Minda.
Today she's 24 and has started a podcast in order to voice her own story and to be a voice for others experiencing homicide grief. Join Rebecca in her very first episodes and travel with her on her literal journey from the dark to the light. Rebecca began sharing her story from a couch in a dark room. 13 episodes later, she has started to show her face and has just released her first True Survivor Series sharing other homicide loss survivor's stories.
Rebecca's Advice: That guilt should be on the person that committed the crime. Not us, because we didn't do anything wrong. It is important to keep their name going.
    Don't stop talking about them.

    Podcast Spotlight:
    LVM Podcast - LMV ADVNTGE
Join Rebecca Benny as she shares her journey of losing her mother to homicide. As we live in a world where people would rather listen to true crime stories, survivors are the only ones that are able to share the life their loved ones lived. Rebecca not only talks about her grief, but also provides a safe place for other survivors to talk about their grief. Let’s Raise Homicide Awareness Together.
