If you've got your online marketing set up reasonably well, I'm sure you're running some form of paid ad campaigns, as well as email marketing. (If you're not though, I think you need to step things up!) When it comes to retargeting ad campaigns, you should be segmenting your audiences as much as possible. Commonly-used segmentations include those who have engaged with your content online, visited certain web pages, viewed your sales pages but not bought, and customer data lists. However, there's a very quick and easy tracking and segmentation option that takes seconds to implement, that I find many people overlook. Yes, we all know you can upload email addresses attached to your mailing lists as a targeted custom audience for your ad campaigns. However, what a lot of people don't realise is that you can embed your ad system tracking pixels directly into the emails you send to your list. Why this is so powerful, is that you can the create custom audience lists based on those who have interacted with specific email campaigns you've sent, and send remarking ad campaigns to people who have taken specific action like viewing an email but not clicking through, while excluding those who haven't. Why this is so powerful is that it enables the ability to create hyper-targeted ads to people who are part of a very specific audience, which is one of the best ways to drive sales in your advertising.
