Rec Week is a spring break experience that disciples students to live out their faith in their everyday life. From politics to race and from gender to power Rec Week seeks to disciples students around what Jesus has to say about these things.

Walter Brueggemann, in Sabbath as Resistance: Saying No to the Culture of Now, writes, “(Sabbath) is resistance because it is a visible insistence that our lives are not defined by . . . production and consumption of goods.” There is a way in which keeping Sabbath frees us from the anxiety that creeps in and says, “But it’s not finished yet! There’s more to do!” Sabbath-keeping helps us resist grounding ourselves in measuring our worth by the work of our hands, or in multitasking, drivenness, or even moving too fast.

Many people go through life and work anxious, tired, and being on the verge of burnout seems not just an option but the way it must be. But even sprinters pace themselves to finish strong, so in the marathon of life - even when doing "good work" and creating great value in the world, there must be rhythms that sustain us.
