What Martin O’Neill has delivered as Interim Manager has been nothing short of remarkable. So much so, in fact, that many fans - understandably - would happily press pause on the imminent passing of the Celtic baton to Wilfried Nancy.
But as football always reminds us, even the best reigns (interim or otherwise) must come to an end. And for O’Neill, that looks to be approaching fast.
When he does step aside, he’ll do so with the gratitude of the entire support, for answering the call when Celtic needed him most, and for breathing life back into a side that had clearly lost its way.
The spotlight now turns to Nancy. His task will be to build on O’Neill’s work and sustain the momentum that’s been reignited in recent weeks. Supporters will be hoping for clarity and confirmation on the Frenchman's arrival in the days ahead.
Elsewhere, the Celtic Fans Collective have confirmed a march will take place ahead of Sunday’s clash with Hearts. It will set off from Celtic’s birthplace of St Mary’s in the Calton at 1.15pm, before making its way to Celtic Park ahead of kick-off - with the social media announcement encouraging all fans to attend:
“All Celtic fans are invited to join us as we embark on a unifying and defiant celebration of everything good about Celtic Football Club.”
