Momentum is building around Wilfried Nancy’s expected unveiling, with many now seeing it as only a matter of time before the Frenchman is confirmed as Celtic’s next manager.

At 48, Nancy is known for a football philosophy rooted in modern infrastructure and data-driven decision-making - an approach he’d look to embed at Celtic if he accepts what would be his first role outside MLS.

His potential appointment appears to bear the imprint of Paul Tisdale, with Celtic’s Head of Football Operations understood to have championed the move to bring the highly rated Columbus Crew coach to Glasgow.

While some remain sceptical, plenty of supporters are energised by the prospect of the club embracing a fully modern model - and all just in time for the AGM. 😀

He took Bodo Glimt to their first ever league title in 2020, and has lifted three further titles since.

Last season he steered them to the semi-finals of the Europa League before losing out to eventual winners Spurs. It’s the furthest any Norwegian side has ever progressed in European competition.

And this season he negotiated qualifying to take his side to the UEFA Champions League for the first time ever where they’ll take on the likes of Juventus, Man City, Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid in the weeks ahead.

‘He’ of course, is Kjetil Knutson, and his stock has never been higher – but will he be the man to replace Brendan Rodgers as permanent Celtic manager?

Currently Head Coach of Columbus Crew in the MLS, the emergence of his name has led to a scramble among fans to get as much info as possible on the man who may replace Brendan Rodgers in the hot seat.

In shades of Ange Postecoglou’s appointment, and Ronny Deila’s before that, Nancy isn’t widely known on these shores and so we spoke to someone in the know to get the lowdown on the highly rated Frenchman.

Dublin-born John O’Rourke has been working in US Soccer for over 25 years and holds an A License from the United States Soccer Federation.

Just two weeks ago John was in attendance as Nancy put on a training session for academy players at Philadelphia Union before later making a presentation and so is well placed to give his thoughts on his suitability.

An early goal by Johnny Kenny put the Bhoys one up at the break before Tierney doubled the lead, with late goals from Daizen Maeda and Arne Engels putting some gloss on the scoreline against a struggling Kilmarnock side.

With Hearts only able to draw with Dundee United earlier in the day the result means we’re now just seven points adrift at the top of the table with a game in hand, and Derek McInnes’ side will now be feeling the pressure that little bit more.

If you were a short story writer, you’d struggle to dream up anything more fantastical than the real-life drama that’s unfolded at Celtic Park over the past seven days.

Shock resignations, dramatic statements, a returning hero - and that was just Monday!

Since then, we’ve seen passionate fan protests, a swashbuckling win over Falkirk, the long-awaited release of the fan survey, and even a first look at the new stadium banners.

And if all that wasn’t enough, Martin O’Neill returned to the dugout for his first Glasgow Derby in over 20 years - and, in classic O’Neill fashion, led the Bhoys to victory on a high-energy afternoon at Hampden Park.

Callum Osmand rightly stole the headlines on the big occasion, but he wasn’t alone. A number of his teammates deserve huge credit for showing the kind of fighting spirit that’s been missing for much of the season as they played they battled their way into next month's final.
