  • 118. The Rule of the Pastor (Regula Pastoralis): A Conversation with Rebecca Wraith

Welcome to The Endow Podcast! This podcast is a forum for women to foster conversations about the intellectual life and intentional community for the cultivation of the feminine genius.

On this episode, Simone Rizkallah, Director of Program Growth, interviews Rebecca Wraith on a 6th century document by Pope St. Gregory the Great! The document is a "Benedictine Rule" of sorts for bishops and priests. Rebecca proposes that the Holy Father's counsel can and should be understood by the laity since in modern times lay people are pastoring and evangelizing side by side with clerics. There is a lot of wisdom to be gained by one of the greatest popes our Church has ever had as well as one of the 37 Doctors of the Church.

    Link to the Rule: https://www.newadvent.org/fathers/36011.htm

Rebecca Wraith is a Health Coach and Member Development Specialist for CMF CURO. She holds a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Theology from the International Theological Institute in Austria, with an undergraduate degree in Theology from Benedictine College in Kansas. She has her health coaching certification through the American Council on Exercise and is currently creating a health coaching model that integrates the full person: Mind, Body, and Spirit for CMF CURO members.

  • 117. In Our Time (Nostra Aetate): A Conversation with Montse Alvarado

Welcome to The Endow Podcast! This podcast is a forum for women to foster conversations about the intellectual life and intentional community for the cultivation of the feminine genius.

On this episode, Simone Rizkallah, Director of Program Growth, interviews Montse Alvarado on Vatican II's shortest document on the relation of the Church to Non-Christian Religions.

Montse joined the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty in 2009 and was named VP & Executive Director in February 2017. With a background in public policy and campaigns, she has led initiatives at Becket in development, communications, strategy and operations that have helped secure religious liberty victories against the contraceptive mandate, protect the rights of churches to choose their leaders, and safeguard the free speech of crisis pregnancy centers and religious groups on campus. She was profiled by the Wall Street Journal’s Weekend Edition with the following introduction: “A defender of all religion, on the front lines of America’s culture wars.”

Montse has a Masters from the George Washington University and a B.A. from Florida International University. She served on the Montgomery County Commission for Women in Maryland and is currently on the board of the Patients’ Rights Action Fund, the leading advocate against the legalization of assisted suicide; a lay consultant to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Religious Liberty Committee; a member of the President’s Advisory Counsel of the Fellowship of Catholic University Students; on the advisory council to the Council of Major Superiors of Women Religious (CMSWR) and the GIVEN Institute; and on the Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board for the Philos Project. Although not an attorney, she “plays one on TV” advocating for Becket clients on major television and radio networks including Univision, CNN en Español, Telemundo, Fox Business, and EWTN. Born in Mexico City, she is fluent in Spanish and French and is a competitive jazz and classical vocalist.

  • 116. Audio Chapter 1 of Edith Stein

Welcome to The Endow Podcast! This podcast is a forum for women to foster conversations about the intellectual life and intentional community for the cultivation of the feminine genius.

On this episode, Annette Bergeon, Executive Director, reads Chapter 1 from the St. Edith Stein Endow Study Guide, "Seeker of Truth."

This study introduces women to one of the twentieth century saints John Paul II canonized during his pontificate. A young Jewish woman who suffered through the Holocaust, converted to Catholicism and found her vocation by joining the beautiful Carmelite sisters. Her story encompasses elements of philosophy (particularly phenomenology, which was a strong interest of John Paul II’s), and theology and offers compelling insights into Jewish life in 1930’s Germany.

  • 114. Audio Chapter 1 of Humanae Vitae
Welcome to The Endow Podcast! This podcast is a forum for women to foster conversations about the intellectual life and intentional community for the cultivation of the feminine genius.

On this episode, Simone Rizkallah, Director of Program Growth, reads Chapter 1 from the Endow Study Guide on Pope Paul VI's encyclical Of Human Life (Humanae Vitae).

The key message of this document is understanding the inseparable dependency of authentic love and truth in human relationships. This is Pope Paul VI’s long-awaited and controversial encyclical explaining the beauty of marriage and the sanctity of human life within that bond. This study is important because it addresses many questions modern Catholics have battled in today’s culture dealing with human love in relationships. It is an important topic to discuss and a great resource in understanding why the Church so strongly guides us towards honoring our dignity within intimate relationships and God’s very hand in procreation.
