In this episode I got the honor of talking with Mindy Vincent, a licensed clinical social worker, founder and executive director of the Utah Harm Reduction Coalition, pioneer in addiction treatment, and owner of Life Changes Counseling. 

In this episode went talked about Mindy's story and how she came back from a long time of addiction to now someone who guides others through this journey. She uses her role as a pure advocate and has made changes that although may feel alternative, they work! 

From syringe exchanges to the topic of psychedelic-assisted therapy, Mindy does things her own way and is not afraid to stand up to old ways of doing things and trail-blaze a new path.

In today's episode, I had to honor of having my older sister on the podcast. The reason I wanted to bring Chelsie on is to share her story about her struggles with addiction. 

Addiction is a topic in our society that people deliberately avoid and hide from the world. However, addiction is a pandemic that works its powers no matter what race, gender, economic status, etc. Sharing stories is a component of the recovery community so I wanted to bring Chelsie's story to the forefront to discuss topics like relapse, family grief, how to handle certain scenarios with addicts and share a bit of advice. 

This conversation brings in the voice of the addict themselves and also my perspective, which is a family member to someone who suffers from addiction. 

I share my pride in being a part of her village, and I hope this conversation brings in a fresh perspective and normalizes this type of conversation instead of shying away from it.

One of the concepts I wanted to cover on the podcast was topics that I felt no one taught or covered in my young adulthood. It's more of a "Things I wish I knew," part of the podcast that I feel needs to be shared because I know I am not alone. 

One of those topics was home buying. The scariest adult decision ever, and in a language that not everyone speaks. I asked my good friend, of 20 years, on the show to talk about the language of buying a home, refinancing a home, or just understanding adult finances a bit better as a whole.

We made it to season two! 

Today I felt the call the pull the trigger on season two. 

There is so much I'm currently learning and so much I have worked through over this year that I'm loudly being guided to share my experiences in this next season and the time is now. 

With feeling the call the start season two on October 1st, there was a huge nudge for collective spirit messages. I started with a tarot card pull which showed up the Queen of Swords. How has it been an entire year?! What a beautiful and wild ride it's been. 

I chose this episode as my season one finale. It felt right to watch this whole journey unfold and develop in the most amazing and informational year! 
With all of the incredible people who came onto the show this year, I have grown leaps and bounds towards a healthier life.  I'm so grateful for everyone that came on and I have so many amazing plans in season 2! And YES, there will absolutely be a season 2. I intuitively felt a strong nudge to create a pause for the integration of all of the amazing information shared this season. Let's face it, starting my Master's Program for clinical counseling while working full time, being a mama and wife full time, part-time photographer, part-time Reiki practitioner, and a whole bunch of other shit I do in a day, is quite an adjustment. 

So I'm headed to my adjustment and integration phase. I'm learning that to maintain my manifesting generatorness, I must make room for rest and time with my loved ones. Watching myself evolve throughout this year has been a truly humbling experience (and yes--I cried--go figure). With all that being said, I hope it inspires you to do the same. Life is not meant to be easy, it's meant to teach. Why are we here? What is your purpose? How will you leave the generations after you, and how will you honor the generations before you?

Today, I decided to pop in for a check-in and update on life. We are almost at 1 year of The Enlightened Lens Podcast Airing. How crazy fast that went, and oh how much has shifted and changed.
