Jody Sperling has created more than 50 works. She is considered the world’s leading exponent of the style of early modern dancer and performance technologist Loïe Fuller (1862-1928). Sperling has expanded Fuller’s genre into the 21st century, deploying it in the context of contemporary and environmental performance forms. She is currently Eco-Artist-in-Residence at The New York Society for Ethical Culture. She appears on the podcast to discuss her upcoming event, SOUND EARTH MOTION, a performance & Gala featuring the Time Lapse Dance ensemble with live musical performances by composer Matthew Burtner, The MET Orchestra musicians, and pianist Jeffrey Middleton. Featured works highlight the climate-engaged collaboration between choreographer Jody Sperling and environmental composer Matthew Burtner.
The podcast returns with an episode recorded on location, at the home of Roger Berle, a resident of Cliff Island, Maine. Roger is the founder of ACE, a non-profit conservation group, and was involved in the making of "The Whales of August", a feature film that was made on the island in the 1980s (starring Betty Davis, Lillian Gish, Vincent Price, and many others). In this episode we talk extensively about how ACE came to exist, it's purpose, and the role it played in the making of "The Film".

This is a special announcement to explain why there haven't been many episodes this season. There's a very good reason!
This episode was recorded in autumn of 2022 (10/26/2022), but was held up due to scheduling difficulties. Recorded on location at a music school in Edison, New Jersey, composer and music artist, Lyndol Descant, returns in her second appearance on the podcast. Lyndol composed the music scores for two of Eric's films: DEATH & LIFE and FRACTALS. In this episode they talk about the difficulties of making it in the music industry, publishing, and film. They wax poetic on the nature of art, and proceed to have a jam session around the song, "No Sense", which the Fractals score is based on. Lyndol explores how she adapted the song, and converted it into a music score.

I recently relocated my entire operation from NYC to Maine (my home state). After exactly twenty years in New York City, I have a lot to say about it, but for now I'm just reflecting on what was a tough move, plus gabbing some of the amazing projects ahead. In this episode, I officially announce the start of filming for my monster movie, plus I'm in pre-production of a new film called "43 Degrees North", which will be filmed right here in my home state of Maine!

Jesi Bender (from episode 94) has a play that will be performed in Brooklyn, New York in September. Tickets are officially on sale for Kinderkrankenhaus at the Brick: https://www.bricktheater.com/event/kinderkrankenhaus/

The most meaningful projects I've ever produced in the medium of cinema are my movies Death & Life and Fractals. However, these movies are only available via streaming platforms, and not available on optical disc. That is why I've decided to utilize my podcast to create the first official audio commentaries for these two projects.
For episode 109, please enjoy my commentary for my 2021 feature arthouse film, FRACTALS.
