International love is the tale of two strangers who became friends, and then embarked on a long distance relationship. This multi-year romance blossomed. Soon, it turned into a 90 day fiance situation. A year ago they moved in together. Six months ago they married. This is their story. But that’s not all!

Luke and Dakota have a story for the ages. He is American. She is Canadian. They once lived thousands of miles apart. Dating for five years over long distance presents many challenges and obstacles. Somehow, Luke and Dakota found a way to overcome everything in their way.

Due to their distance, they learned to communicate. This was all they had during the long years when they could not be together. Brutal honesty is their strength. Now that they are living together, this communication ability is a major asset. They have learned about their love languages.

Dakota feels spoiled. Her love language is Acts of Service. Luke does everything for her. He ensures she is fed and hydrated. Anything she needs, he makes sure she has. For Luke, is need is Quality Time. As long as he knows Dakota is there, he feels safe.

Other topics on this episode include all the government hurdles they need to jump. So much paperwork and bio-metric work can be overwhelming. Fingerprints and photos have been taken numerous times. International love takes a lot of work!

Shawn and Leah talk about their trip to Milwaukee to visit Luke and Dakota. Milwaukee is a city that rode into the American history books on two wheels and brewed its way into the hearts of the American traveler. When asked “what makes Milwaukee, Milwaukee?” the world’s most recognizable motorcycle brand and a well-poured beer come to mind. Cheese curds aren’t too far down that list either. Leah picked up a much sought after DVD. Shawn gathered a pile of Hot Wheels. Their Jeep was ducked. What’s ducking? Find out here!

Flopcast episode 621! With Kornflake away on special assignment, Kevin and the Mayor of Chickentown are free to obsess over The Krofft Supershow, a wild 1970s Saturday morning TV anthology series from Sid and Marty Krofft. Specifically we’re looking at the career of musician and actress Debra Clinger, who played Superchick in The Krofft Supershow’s house band, Kaptain Kool and the Kongs. Pre-Superchick, Debra and her sisters formed the Clingers, one of the very first all-girl rock bands! She was also in the Rock Flowers, a music group created to tie in with a line of Mattel fashion dolls! So it was quite a path to becoming a Kong, and along the way our conversation covers the Osmonds, the Smothers Brothers, Dick Clark, Casey Kasem, Hanna Barbera’s Catanooga Cats, and much more. We also run through the Krofft Supershow first season segments: Wonderbug, Dr. Shrinker, Lost Saucer, and (our favorite) Electra Woman and Dyna Girl. And we look at the other members of Kaptain Kool and the Kongs too. (One member became a sitcom star, one was in Three Dog Night, and one performed at Woodstock!) And we’re only halfway through this Superchick deep dive; part two is coming soon. So take a trip with us today, and we will lead you through a land of dreams. Weird Krofft dreams.

In the entire history of anime only two characters were considered to have had sufficient cultural impact outside of Japan to adorn the welcome materials given to international Olympic athletes during the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. Those were Son Goku from Dragonball/Z/GT/Super and Sailor Moon. In this episode we talk about the phenomenon that is Sailor Moon. We discuss the manga, anime, and live action versions. We talk about our favorite Sailor Soldiers (yes we know that Toei calls them Sailor Guardians now), and we debate why the franchise endures. We also talk about favorite aspects of the various media and even compare the two different animes. We also get into what dubs and subs each bring to the table.

Due to time constraints this episode does not have a five-minute controversy.

This week Anji, Rachele, and Mike join the cast.

Director Saul Bass provides a thought-provoking look into what might happen if insects, namely ants, fight back against what man is doing to the planet.
