  • YouTube Breakfast – Soul Forge Podcast 253

YouTube Breakfast: Problems and Pain is episode 253 of the Soul Forge Podcast!

A rare walk and talk episode with great sound quality!

This week on the podcast, we are discussing a variety of topics. Join me on my mail route for about 20 minutes as I waxed philosophically and poetry about a plethora of subjects. And remember, if you would like to correspond with the show, send an email to [email protected]

The first thing we are talking about this week is cultural references. Turns out that most of mine are from the 1980s and 1990s. That is the era in which I grew up, so I suppose this makes a certain amount of sense. One of my favourite references is ‘2 weeks’ from the film Total Recall. I use it whenever possible. Most of the music I like to listen to is also from the same time frame, with the 1990s being the most favoured. In fact, it’s the oldies station I most frequently listen to if I am using home town music stations.

Another topic this week is my TikTok obsession. I have been using the app for about 2 months now. I make between one and four videos per day. It is quite random as sometimes I am being inspiration, while at other moments I am being silly or introspective. You never know what might come out of my mouth!

The rest of the podcast is devoted to a few somewhat related topics. The main focus is on my move back home to the Soo and the happiness factor. For the most part, I feel stress-free. I’m happy. It’s almost like I’m on a working vacation. Life seems bright and full of possibility! I’ve always believed it to be a bad idea to admit to the universe that you are happy. However, I am changing my attitude on this – I am going to enjoy the hell out of my happiness. And so should you!

My life has always been fear driven. Fear has prevented me from following my dreams. This year I turned my back on fear and did things just for me. I was so afraid to move back home, but I did it anyway, and I have never been happier. We all have problems and pain. Today I watched a video on YouTube by Mark Manson. Hence the title, YouTube Breakfast. He was discussing problems and pain. A great little video with lots of relevant points. Everyone should have a YouTube Breakfast in the morning.

  • Flopcast 526: Desert Island Dumb

Flopcast episode 526! Inspired by our friend Jon Sloan’s comic book series Jim & Celeste, we have a Top 4 ½ List of movies to watch while stranded on an island. The catch is that the movies must be from 1975-1985. Which should be fine, because that’s when all the good stuff happened. But we still manage to make some terrible choices. (How many blaxsploitation, vansploitation, car wash, and Gary Coleman movies would you pack for a three hour tour? Probably not as many as us. Although speaking of Gilligan’s Island, two of our picks do star Jim Backus. Oops.) Also: We wish a Happy Birthday to a Jedi, and we’re sleepy. As usual.
