No matter what you call it, and there are more than 1200 slang terms for it… (Pot, Weed, Blunt, Chronic, 420, Astro Turf, Catnip, Wacky Tabacky, Kush, Cannabis, Marijuana, Roach, Reefer, Doobie, Grass, Ganja, Mary Jane, Dope, The Devil’s Lettuce, etc.) roll up a fancy cigarette and listen to our breakdown of the topic at hand. We cover just about everything you can think of.

LEGAL STUFF:

where to purchase (you’re gonna need to know this if you want some of the legal stuff)

legal age and restrictions (there are still limitations even though it’s now legal)

zero tolerance and penalties (there’s always something)

possession rules and limits (certain places still won’t allow it, and you have limits on how much you can have with you)

parcel packaging and delivery rules (protecting the mailman is key here)

We discuss our personal experiences with weed and other drugs, including the first times we tried smoking up. We explore some family history, our initial opposition to cannabis and our eventual acceptance.

We talk about puking, ‘pulling a whitey’ and feeling the actual experience of being high. Also included in the discussion are the ideas of bongs and other smoking paraphernalia.

The episode concludes with a brief chat about the meaning of 420 and some of the medical benefits that cannabis provides.

We watched Lake Placid, people really need to stop ripping off Steven Spielberg, ok? And no, your pitch of what if Betty White were the bad guy in a Jurassic Park meets Jaws crossover starring a giant alligator does not sweeten the pot. Well, I am lying, that sounds amazing; too bad this was not.

This week, James Gunn has been announced as the writer & director of the Suicide Squad sequel!! We do a very deep dive into what that could look like. Iron Fist is the first Marvel show on Netflix to be cancelled & we give our in depth impressions of Super Mario Party on the Nintendo Switch. Sam also talks about the series premiere of Titans on the DC Universe.

Yes, this is likely not the podcast episode that you’re looking for. Fear not, though, as I do plan to review the episodes of Series 11 with Jodie, it’s just that I’d planned to release this right before the new series started airing, but life intervened. Still, despite the awkward timing, I worked hard on it, so I still wanted to go ahead get it out.

Now, the subject matter is admittedly a bit dated as the con I’m discussing happened a few months back, but I had hoped to use this as basically a practice episode to get back into the swing of things.

So, anyway, I hope you will all join me for some reminiscing about my time at this year’s Wholanta convention, as well as some bonus Happy Fandom Time squee and a mini, non-spoiler-y chat about David Tennant’s film, ‘Bad Samaritan’.

Flopcast episode 336! This week we conclude our look back at last month’s concert by After These Messages, a weird new band (Kevin is the lead singer, sort of) that only plays TV theme songs, and may never play again. (You’re welcome!) The second half of the concert included plenty of classic sitcom themes (such as Happy Days, Three’s Company, Silver Spoons, and WKRP), another ridiculous duet (Family Ties), a Billy Joel cover (thanks to Tom Hanks in a dress), a School House Rock medley, an eerily accurate Peter Brady impression, and a song that no one could possibly remember (unless they’re a Flopcast listener). It was a magic night. There were no survivors. Also: We celebrate National Grouch Day, we receive a surprise turxt, and we agree upon the stakes of our Fish Heads bet. The Vegas oddsmakers must be freaking out.
